Latest information from my local "GURU". Windows 7 reroutes the audio in such a way that it comes out monoral. To date there is no solution to this problem.

Re: Stereo recording windows 7
You have been most patient with me and this I appreciate to the nth degree. The problem ,as I see it , is with Windows 7 or the sound card.. I have I understand that there are four(4) versions of Windows 7. I have Home Premium 64 bit version.

Re: Stereo recording windows 7
I'm leaning toward a defective sound card. Your program AUDACITY 1.2.6 & and BETA both work fine on my old computer which has WINDOWS XP. My guess is that the problem lies with WINDOWS 7 or the sound card. But how can one conclude what the culpret is? My name is Burt, by the way.

Re: Stereo recording windows 7
I am using the same cables that I used on my other computer that has Windows XL. I am recording from my stereo which is a KENWOOD and a good one. I use this to convert vinyl recordings to cd. Some of the recordings(vinyl) have blips and scratches, which I can minimize with AUDACITY.

Stereo recording windows 7
Tried everything I know, but "line in" records only monoral on apparently the left channel. No matter what input I choose from the DEVICE BAR
Windows 7
What is "master" in the mixer tool bar?
