Re: some help please
There are two ways of doing this. If you want the second track to follow the first immediately, you can Cut the second track, click on the first track and pressing Fast Forward (>>). Then click Paste. The second track will follow the first immediately. You can also shift the second track relative to...

Re: Mixer toolbar source greyed out
Uhh, I think you missed the important point, WC. Pete, Some audio drivers won't allow you to access the Mixer selection menu. This is because of the way different drivers handle different inputs. There's a lack of standardization here that is causing the problem. You will be able to select different...

Re: recording from usb turntable
You might have a hard drive that's too full and/or fragmented. You might have a program running in the background that accesses your hard drive while it's trying to record (Virus Checkers are the worst). You might have a processor or Operating System that's too sluggish to keep up. You might have a ...

Re: Click Track
It might have something to do with the Software Playthrough (play new track while recording it) check box option. Software Playthrough and "Play other tracks while recording new one" are two completely different things. You should NOT have Software Playthrough on. But you NEED to have &qu...

Re: Recording time remaining
It's just telling you how much data you can record before you run out of hard drive space, at Audacity's current recording settings . You should note that if you set Audacity to record in Mono this number will be twice as high as it is when you set Audacity to record in Stereo. Likewise, if you set ...

Re: Can I trust Audacity's Noise & Click Removal?
If you're just recording and cleaning LPs, I highly recommend using Audacity 1.3.3. It's got a much nicer Noise Removal, and an Effect called Repair which can be used on individual clicks and pops and comes highly recommend by several other board members (I don't do this kind of work, so I can't say...

Re: can't hear music playing in background when singing with
Most likely you turned off "Play other tracks while recording new one" in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu. That needs to be ON for your purposes. I'm not sure why your USB mic isn't working. These are the basic steps to follow to get a USB mic working: 0) Close Audacity if...

Re: can i paste to the track beyond the end of that track?
Audacity 1.2.6 cannot have 'dead' space on a track. You have three options: 1) Insert silence as you said. This will greatly increase the amount of data in your project. 2) Use Audacity 1.3.3. That version allows you to have 'dead' space between different clips on one track. 3) Just make a third tra...

Re: Recording ram files
If you want an external sound card, the Behringer UCA202 gets mentioned a lot. It's only $35. The Edirol UA-1EX also gets mentioned a lot, it's nicer, but it's $80. I have no experience converting RAM files to WAV files. But searching for "ram 2 wav" on google got me several links to progr...
