You'll have to recompile the program from source if you want ASIO support. Or talk Steinburg into releasing it to the public.

Re: This seems to be too basic to even bring up but
If you have an M-Audio Delta 44, I'm sure you can. Just make sure the drivers are updated.
I use an M-Audio Delta 1010LT, and if I set the recording source to "Delta 101LT multi" I can select up to 8 tracks to record at once.

Re: Olympus Dgtl Rcrdr to CD player compatable?
Is this is question about Audacity? The files from that digital voice recorder are probably ADPCM files (technically .wav, but non-standard). Audacity can import them, but only if you use Import Raw. I don't know of any CD burning software that will burn those files directly, you'll probably have to...

Re: Set LAME to use VBR?
1.2.6 doesn't support this feature of LAME. Audacity 1.3.3 does (among several other better output options).

Re: horrible feedback kinda sound
If you re-export that file back into Audacity what do you see? Was it exported to WAV or MP3 (or something else)?

I've just tried this on my machine at home. It crashes here. Re: How to reduce wav file size, ignorant newbie needs help!
Sure, you can change the sample rate of a wav file if you need to. If it's just voice you can probably get away with 8-bit, 11.025KHz. You would change the output format like this: in 1.2.6, press [ctrl]+p -> File Formats -> uncompressed output format. change that to Microsoft Wav 8bit. Then, exit t...

Re: crash on any file operation
You might want to do a sweep for viruses or something else. It seems like something is not letting you write data to your hard drive properly (which happens whenever Audacity does any audio editing and also when FireFox is doing it's thing). I've never seen anyone with this problem before, do other ...

Re: Why no "writing Nyquist plug-ins" forum section?
I can totally get behind this one. I have next to no experience with Nyquist (apart from editing David Sky's Turntable-warping plugin to work with any sample rate), but I'd still like to read up on what people have to say about it.

Re: Minimising recording noise
Holy crap, you're only getting 34 dB of dynamic range? That's abysmal. Nothing you can do with Audacity will be able to fix that problem, it'll sound terrible no matter what. A Noise gate would remove the noise between phrases of the music, but the parts that are supposed to have audio will still so...
