Re: Newbie to audio recording
That's odd... Are you sure you're not picking up audio from a microphone while it's playing? Can you still record the same audio if you turn your speakers off (you should be able to)? Vista has many audio problems (still), many of which are covered in this wiki page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/ind...

Re: Export problem
Audacity 1.3.3 has an auto-save function in the Edit -> Preferences -> Directories menu. You probably have that turned on. Personally I would leave it turned on for the (unlikely) case that your computer or Audacity might crash before you get a chance to export your recording. I guess that means you...

Re: Noise Removal > Get Noise Profile > Crash
Well, we need to find the common link that's causing some computers to crash the program and others to survive just fine. I guess you guys should start by listing the info about your computers that I listed in my other two posts. It's also up to the developers to figure out what that offset value is...

Re: Export problem
I stole this from the 1.2 Manual: Audacity projects are stored in an AUP file, which is a format that has been highly optimized for Audacity so that it can open and save projects extremely quickly. In order to achieve this speed, Audacity breaks larger audio files into several smaller pieces and sto...

Re: naming my files
You mean you had to go through Windows' file properties menu? You shouldn't have to do that, Audacity can write id3 info without any problems (at least, I know 1.2.6 can). You are exporting to mp3 directly from Audacity, right? If you're exporting to wav and using some other program to convert to mp...

Re: how do you remove noise from your track???
It depends on what kind of noise is in the background. Audacity can't magically remove other people talking or a train going by or things like that. But this wiki page can explain what Noise Removal can and can't do (and how to use it) it much better than I can here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/ind...

Re: echo on audacity???
You can't hear real-time effects while recording, if that's what you're asking. All the Audacity effects will only work on a track that's already been recorded. In other words, you can only record "dry" tracks at first. But once the track is in there, it's a simple matter of highlighting t...

Re: Cannot record on vista
'CD Audio' is not the same as your motherboard sound card. I'm willing to bet most people wouldn't get anything using the CD-Audio input, it requires that an extra cable be run from the back of your CD-ROM drive to your sound card. I don't even know if sound card's have this extra port anymore, as i...

Re: Curser not doing right
In the Edit -> Preferences -> Interface Tab, there is an option called "autoscroll while playing". That should be turned ON to update the screen when the cursor scrolls off the end. I don't know what to say about the Fit Selection button. As long as you have some audio selected with the Cu...
