Re: Recording Problem
Do you have these songs all edited already and split up into different files? If so, you can just import them all individually into the same Audacity project. If not, then I'm afraid I'm also confused. Tell us exactly where you're getting the audio from (other files, CD, internet stream, etc), and t...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp
Guys, guys, guys. The recommended load impedance of a typical Moving Magnet cartridge is in the tens of thousands of ohms (Audio-Technica lists 47,000 ohms). I hope you aren't worried about adding an extra 1/10th of an ohm to the circuit by using a (gasp!) gold-chrome contact. On the other hand, if ...

Re: What is an FFT filter?
morten44, I have no idea what you're trying to say. Whenever I see the words "zero-latency" on an audio product, they're usually talking about the monitoring signal. In that case, it's an analog circuit with no latency (unless you consider a few nano-seconds to be latency). It's perfectly reasonable...

Re: Frequency Analysis
There's a lot of information that can be gleaned from the Frequency Analysis menu, but you really do need to have some understanding of how audio signals transform into the frequency domain. You can read up a little bit on Spectrum Analysis here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frequency_spectrum If no...

Re: No Sound on Speaker when Recording
Sorry this is so late. Most likely you don't have the input volume turned up in your Operating System's audio setup software. Here's a link: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS#Control_Panel_issues Right beneath the photo in that link, there's a short blurb about how to tur...

Re: No recording/playback/quality preferences
I'm sorry I took so long to respond, I haven't had the access to these forums that I used to.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to help you out. Is the menu simply not displaying correctly, or are all the fields greyed out? I've never heard of this kind of problem.

Re: Lexicon Alpha recording interface
The first thing to do while troubleshooting is to try using a different piece of software to record with. If you use Windows, there's an app called Windows Sound Recorder. If that works, then your problem is with Audacity's setup, if it doesn't then your problem is with the OS's setup. Ideally you s...

Re: Recording two separate tracks and mixing
You can do that just fine, and I don't even think you'll have to swap any cables out. Every time you hit record in Audacity, you'll get a new track that's recording whatever audio the input is seeing at that moment. So all you have to do between different instruments is click Stop, set the mixer and...

Re: Managing inputs in Windows XP. Software recommendations?
I don't think Audacity will change your OS's audio settings, except for the volume slider. I'm not sure how to stop that from happening. My guess is that you have Audacity set up to read the OS's default device, instead of selecting the device you want directly. Open Audacity and go to the edit -> p...

Re: New mixer and soundcard - output going back into input
A lot of this depends on how you have the Mixer set up and you didn't really describe too much. The only thing I can say for sure right now is that if you removed the sound card out -> mixer aux in connection, and then connected the sound card out -> a headphone amp then your problem will go away. I...
