Re: dell/vista can only record with microphone

If you guys are still having trouble accessing the "Stereo Mix" (or whatever) option from your sound card, then the problem is probably that the drivers you're using don't supply that input option. There's nothing Audacity can do to force it, it's entirely dependent on the drivers. The wik...

Re: Controlling Input Volume

You'll have to control the volume from the outside of the computer to get that to happen. But you don't really need to do that, you can just highlight everything once it's recorded and use the Effects -> Normalize function to get the peaks of each clip at the same volume level (the volume might stil...

Re: Don't know whether this can be fixed but I thought I'd a

As Koz said, the problem is that you're likely not sending the _data folder (which has all the Audacity Project's audio data in it). And that _data folder is going to be huge for multi-track projects (some of mine are 500+ MBs). There's no way you can email 500 MBs. If you can set up a private serve...

Re: Voice Recording through USB Headset

I would think so, though it depends on the audio drivers you have installed for the USB headset. You'll have to open Audacity and go to the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu and select the USB headset in the "recording device" menu (I don't know what it will be called). But as long as ...

Re: More Input Volume

There is often a setting in your OS's driver software called "+20 dB mic boost." I don't know exactly where to find it (I think it varies from driver to driver), but if that is turned on you shouldn't have any more trouble.

Re: Turning a file into a podcast/Publishing Rights

This is not a very good place for legal advice, so be wary of anything you hear here. Secondly, do we have the right as podcasters to put any song we want into a podcast? If not, what kind of stuff can we put into podcasts? You do not have the right to use Copyrighted materials without first getting...

Re: Change Tempo noise

It's not a bug, it's a limitation of the way Audacity currently handles effects. What you're doing is creating a non-continuous waveform at the point that the editing starts (and stops). The reason you don't hear anything during silent parts is that the waveform is already floating around near zero,...

Re: How do I disable noise removal during recording?

What? Audacity doesn't do real-time effects (especially while recording), so it isn't applying Noise Removal to the track while you're recording. It sounds to me like you're using the wrong Input to record with and your hardware doesn't like it much. You should plug the headphone jack of your tape d...

Re: ECHO

mirrorgirl, didn't you ask this question last week also? I answered you there too (in addition to you posts about Noise Removal).

If there is something wrong with my answers, please respond in that thread, don't start new threads asking the same questions.
