Re: Record button Crashes PC. always.

What kind of sound card do you have? Is it the built in sound card on your motherboard? What does Windows XP call it in the Device Manager list? There are two things I can think of off the top of my head: 1) You may have something set very strange in the Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O m...

Re: Recording Rap. . .?

I need something to make/create/edit beats. The best way to do that is to write them and play them. But that's probably not what you're asking. There are plenty of programs that will make it easy to drag and drop little snippets of audio and string them together so they loop nicely. But Audacity is...

Re: Recording two instruments at once

You'll have to set Audacity to record in Stereo in the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu. This will give you two tracks. While it's recording, Audacity will treat it like one stereo clip (and the monitoring for each instrument will be panned hard to either side), but once you're done, click on t...

Re: Newbie Question(s)

You can't do this in the way that you seem to think you can. You can make a mark while a project is playing ([ctrl]+m), but you can't move a mark (I don't know why this is, and I disagree with this decision). However, the easiest way to do this is to highlight a portion that's larger than what you k...

Re: Too much bass on exported MP3 files

Pete, you and Marc have two different problems. Pete, I believe you have a bad sound card, since you can't record properly. If you can listen to the output of the Walkman somewhere else (plug headphones into it, or plug it into a receiver) and it sounds ok there, then you should be getting the same ...

Agreed. There's a forum for requesting future improvements to Audacity, post a new topic there:

Re: Got Audacity to work with Omega ... but it's WEIRD!!!

Two things that Lexicon's website says: When the Omega is used on PC, the computer will need XP Professional or Home Edition with Service Pack 2. Do you have SP2 installed? Also, look about halfway down this page, there's a question reading " I have connected the Omega to my computer and instal...

Re: Aud sped up... Not sample rate as far as I can tell

It's probably not a standard wav file. Audacity does things like this if you try to import AAC (mp4) files, and other compressed files that Audacity can't recognize.

Re: Adjust Volume w/in Project

You want the Envelope Tool. I scoured the Internet for 8 minutes (it was a very thorough scouring, I assure you), and found a YouTube video showing how to use it. But the video isn't in english. It is, however, still pretty easy to see how to use it. Start watching the video at 3 minutes in and take...

Re: Won't record

I have tried other recording devices with my mic and it works fine. So other outboard hardware works, that's good. You've got a good mic and mic cable. But we've still got to test the sound card. You may also have a bad cable somewhere, one that you don't use with your "other recording devices...
