Re: No waveform being recorded

What input are you trying to record from? Line In, Mic In, Stereo Mix, etc.? If you're trying to record a Stereo Mix signal and this wiki page doesn't help you then you will probably need new or drivers that supply that signal. Neither Sigmatel nor Realtek write the drivers for their chips, so it's ...

Re: Audio Import sounds like a 1 sec screech, no music

What you're describing is exactly what happens when you import a WMA or MP4 (aka m4a) file. These are compressed formats that Audacity cannot currently read.

Re: Problem Multitracking

You'll have to go through Windows audio setup software to change your input to Line In (or Mic In if that's what you're using).

Instructions for both XP and Vista are on this page (XP is about a page lower):

Re: not recording anymore, system resources?

Sound cards can die. I've seen it happen. It's rare though.

Have you updated any drivers recently? Or changed the recording settings in Audacity?

Re: Audacity keeps crashing out

Does the Echo Indigo use ASIO drivers? Audacity cannot use those for legal reasons (somebody kick Steinburg for me). I noticed that you default to using Outs 3+4. That should work fine, but I wonder if your internet browser is only sending audio to outputs 1+2 instead of where it should be going. In...

Re: To record/convert cassette to mp3 connections..

Waxcylinder's advice about other sound cards is solid. You can use the Mic In, it's not going to hurt anything. But it also won't sound good and the recording will probably be mono instead of stereo. That Mic In port was designed to have a crappy little computer mic plugged in, it wasn't designed fo...

Re: Multiple Output Channels

Nope.

Audacity can write multi-channel (3+) wav files, but it cannot currently playback to more than two channels.

Re: Input dies after ~30 seconds

My two best guesses are: Driver problem (update them if you can), and power-supply issue. Is it possible that you used to use a separate power supply for the FireWire 410, and now are powering the unit from the FireWire bus? Can you plug the FireWire 410 into it's own supply and see if that works (o...

Re: Too many temps files and time limit?

Koz, This is certainly not the first I've seen the Crash Recovery program. I've sent many people to that link. And I've heard back from several people here that it works just fine, though not with all projects. It tends to work well with projects that only have a small number of tracks, and aren't t...

Re: recording in stereo

If Audacity isn't recording in stereo, and it's set to record 2 channels, then it isn't receiving a stereo signal from the source. Either your stylus is misaligned, your LP is actually mono, or your USB turntable is not set up correctly. And just in case you have an old version of Audacity, you shou...
