Re: recording volume
Everyone, You can highlight the whole signal and click Effects -> Amplify to make the track louder. But this will also boost the noise floor of the track along with the rest of the audio. It's much better to record the signal at a good level in the first place. Look at the picture that Jeff posted. ...

Re: Gaps in sound when recording with Audacity 1.3.3?
f you've still got 1.3.3 installed, can you run a test using the 44.1KHz and 48KHz sample rate. Some cards have more trouble with different rates. I'm surprised that the older version of Audacity records at the same rate without any problems.

Re: Something is wrong with WAV export
I can clearly hear the difference. The "Wav" file sounds as though it was, at one point, converted to 8 bits and then back to 16. But the "FLAC" doesn't. The added noise is damn near white, it's not like there are any added tones or filtered noise. It's just a pure, higher, digit...

Better display for long effects menus
I'm sure this is common. I've been using the LADSPA effects pack for awhile now (thanks to whoever put it together), and it's great. But I would like to see Audacity handle the way the Effects menu is displayed a little better (at least in Windows and GNU/Linux). It would be even better if we could ...

Re: Where has Gverb gone?
That LADSPA pack has a ton if effects and will make your effects menu too long to fit onto one screen. If you're serious about audio editing, I suggest spending time exploring each one and picking only those you can expect to use. All the others you should take out of the Plug-Ins folder (not while ...

Re: Audacity--Stand-alone or VST?
No, Audacity is a stand-alone recording program, not an effects quite. Further, it's support of VST is minimal. I'm surprised Tracktion can't reverse an audio clip, it's trivial to do from a programming standpoint. Even Windows Sound Record can do it. At this point, you're best bet seems to be to ex...

Re: Recording Level Metre?
ngc is talking about the position of the input volume slider in Audacity, but Koz, you're talking about the dB level of the audio peak. ngc, turning that down to 1 and setting Audacity to record at 32-bits (Edit -> Preferences -> Quality -> Default Sample Format) is a good idea. At that high a bit d...

Re: click removal
No, don't reinstall, it won't help. The Click Removal in Audacity 1.2.6 isn't that great. I think it's improved in 1.3.3, but I'm not certain. I do know that 1.3.3 has a Repair function that is held in high regard by several other posters, but it doesn't work over an entire tracks worth, you have to...
