Re: Gaps in sound when recording with Audacity 1.3.3?
I could not find out if my card supports arbitrary sample rates from the specs (see http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=IC-510012), but whether it does or not, why should 1.3.3 have gaps at a standard rate and 1.2.4 does not? That remains a mystery to me. It's obvious that the two versions of A...

Re: Can't playback MIDI
Ouch. ;) I read those notes, and I was aware of the problem before running the program the first time. But expecting most people to RTFM is leaning a bit too far in the "wishful thinking" direction. I'd bet most computer users have never had a document named "readme.txt" open on ...

Re: N0 Sound in playback
In Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu, there is a drop-down menu for selecting the playback device. You need to select what ever you have your speakers plugged into in this menu. We get this problem most commonly when people plug a USB device (usually a USB turntable) and it sets itsel...

Re: Waveform light shaded inner area
Someone correct me if I'm wrong (I'm looking at you, Richard). The dark blue part of the waveform shows you the highest peak in the area that pixel represents (remember that zooming out far enough forces Audacity to display many samples using only one column of pixels, so each pixel might represent ...

Re: Intermittent white noise
Two of the four USB connections on one of my Windows machines are unusable because of noise and bad connections. I have the same problem with FireWire ports. My machine at home has two of them, and neither can be used for Audio because they suck so hard. And the cables they supply in the box usuall...

Re: microphone help
I use a USB microphone that already has an A/D converter that automatically samples to 16 Bit. I didn't read the specification of the microphone before doing my recording, and I used 32 Bit sampling in Audicity. Did that affect my recording for linguistic purposes? Linguistic purposes? I'm not sure...

Re: WAV to MP3 Conversion / FAST FORWARD
Fast forwards? How fast? Can you import the mp3 back into Audacity and play it normally? It sounds like you might be using a sample rate that your playback software doesn't support. The "standard" sample rates are 44.1KHz, 48KHz, and 22.05KHz. As long as the mp3 quality setting is 96 kbps ...

Nah, it's just simple matrix mathematics.
Well, as simple as adding and subtracting matricies can get.

Re: Trouble Recording Multiple Tracks..
I have a soundblaster live! 24-bit soundcard This is the second time I've seen someone with this exact problem using the same sound card. He was able to fix his problems by using a different sound card. There may be another way to fix it, but we swapped posts for a good week and a half and nothing ...

Re: Differing Rates
Your slow file was encoded improperly. You should be able to put files of different sample rates in one project and have them all play at the same rate without any issues. Does anyone know if this kind of thing is caused by bad sound card drivers? Using different sample rates works flawlessly on my ...
