Re: Newbie - How to Get to Specific Time in Track
Audacity 1.2.x won't allow this, but Audacity 1.3.x does.
Using 1.3.x all you have to do is type the time you want into the selection boxes at the bottom of the main screen.

Re: Sound Card
External sound cards (almost always USB or FireWire) are nice. Here's a list of nicer ones: http://www.samash.com/catalog/categorysub.asp?CategorySubID=876&departmentid=6&sourcetype=categorysearch If you're looking for something cheaper, the Behringer UCA202 works for casual audio folks (~$3...

Re: Effects without changing source
Alatham: where did ya hear the developers are looking into adding real time effects? I don't remember, it may have been a rumor on our old forums. But it's been suggested so often that I'd be surprised if it wasn't a vague dream for the future. Do you think with today's Intel Dual Core2 processors ...

Speaker deficiencies? Sure, I'll buy that. But it's still probably easier to buy an EQ.

Re: Accessing Raw Audio Streams
The Delta 1010's driver software should let you route each input directly to another output. I use the Delta 1010LT and I can do that without using Audacity at all. That said, Audacity can't output to more than 2 channels for the moment, so you can't use Audacity to play back files you've recorded. ...

Re: removing loud 'Im recording right in front of amp' noise
That recording is completely ruined, there's nothing you can do to salvage it.

Re: Changing pitch changes size
OK, you're trying to open a file that Audacity doesn't recognize. Are you trying to open the files directly from an audio CD? That won't work. You'll need to use a different program to rip the audio from the CD to a format you can work with (probably mp3). CD ripping software is ubiquitous at this p...

Re: Multimix Firewire Compatibility
A member of our old forums used the Alesis Multimix 16, and was able to record up to 16 tracks at once without any problems. The other two will probably work, but you need to make sure that the drivers for the mixer are written to supply that many inputs using 1 device (Audacity can only access 1 de...
