Re: random loss of sound

You're problem is almost certainly that the Audacity project is dependent on some audio files that are now missing. I know you said that the original files are intact, but if that was the case then Audacity would be working. So we have to figure out why Audacity can't find those files. Open up one o...

Re: Unicode labels

Audacity hangs about every 3 to 10 minutes when I am working on making labels.
Have you found anything in common when it hangs? Perhaps it always hangs when you're deleting a label, or something like that?

It's much easier to fix bugs when we know exactly what's going on when it crashes.

Re: new laptop, audacity doesn't work

If you're using ASIO drivers, you will find two things: 1) Audacity will not be able to talk to your sound card. 2) Windows Sound Recorder will. If that's the case, it will appear there is a problem with Audacity, when in fact the problem is with the ASIO drivers. what about the fact that it's not p...

This set of forums isn't exactly high-traffic. Patience is a virtue.

Re: Any suggestions what to use?

Audacity works just fine, your problem is located somewhere between your desk chair and your monitor. If you post a comprehensible question in the correct forum (so we know which OS you're using), we'll be able to help you. If you're just here to bitch, then know that it will fall on uncaring ears. ...

Re: How to use Pitch Fix to sound like t-pain..

Robotic effect? The classic "robot voice" is made with a vocoder, not a pitch shift. Audacity doesn't have a vocoder and I haven't ever found any plugins that will do that effect to use in Audacity. If you're talking about a pitch corrector effect (a la "Believe" by Cher or "...

Re: Giving Stereo Depth to Mono Tracks

That's ADT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_double_tracking I've used this technique myself, many times. It's not limited to vocals either, I occasionally beef up rhythm guitars by making two copies, delaying one of them a tiny bit, and panning them off to either side. There's no real formula...

Re: Recording 2 things at once/muting channels

melloyellow,

Unless you have a sound card that can record from 3 analog inputs at once, you're out of luck.

At this point, your best bet is to use Audacity to record the video sounds, and then go back and record your mic signal while listening to the original recording.

Re: Cannot select stero mix

Are you saying that you can hear audio, but when you use Audacity set to record the Stereo Mix it doesn't pick anything up?

That's a new one for me. I'm baffled.
