Re: Files getting hosed when I SAVE
Getting back to alatham's original answer to me -- "al," if you're still monitoring, I think that you apparently misinterpreted my original explanation. In each case, I am importing these tracks into a brand-new project -- and each song is a different project, of course. And when this pro...

Re: Trouble exporting to wav or mp3
Genius, no. Thanks though.
I just remember that someone else had a very similar problem 3 months ago. It took a week to figure out he was running on a network drive.

Re: Files getting hosed when I SAVE
Here's the problem: 1. I use Project > Import to bring the tracks into Audacity. The track names are always tr01, tr02, etc. followed by: Then I use File Export Multiple to save the individual tracks to the same folder; WAV format, Split files based on Tracks, Overwrite originals , etc. (emphasis mi...

Re: Recordings are clipping. Any ideas?
Are you sure you're using the word " clipping " correctly? You also describe your problem as a "skip" which is not at all the same thing. My first suggestion is to try plugging the USB mic into one of the ports on the back of your computer. Ports on the front are not as reliable ...

Re: help getting started with audacity
This is the wrong forum for this question, in the future please ask at the forum specific to your operating system. Here's a basic tutorial on getting Audacity setup right: http://www.guidesandtutorials.com/audacity-tutorial.html The basic idea is that you'll import your audio file (you can drag and...

Re: Audio effects selection v1.3.4
There's no such thing as mutually exclusive audio effects. They can both be used. The real question is whether or not there's a point to running both. The answer is no. The Leveller effect is a compressor. It's just a very, very heavy handed compressor. So if you're going to use the Leveller, there'...

Re: records from optical-in too fast
If I store files at 48 kHz, they will be bigger than files at 44,1 kHz, am I right? And the thing is, the source (my MDs) are just recorded at 44,1 kHz, so that's like if I would take an mp3 file recorded at 44,1 kHz and reincode it in 48 kHz - just wasting space! Yes, the files will be slightly la...

Re: records from optical-in too fast
That's actually two conversions, but you're right that it would be best to avoid them. At the same time, the only way to avoid them would be to record an analog signal, but that will add noise from the analog parts of the circuits. So you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. I'm not sure wh...

Re: Separate tracks in the mix?
Media Player always seems to glitch if you put a bunch of wav files in it's playlist and play them one after the other. That's not the case if you're using WMP to play a CD. You're right that a CD player should seamlessly play tracks. When I use this method to export to multiple WAVs and burn them t...

Re: Trouble exporting to wav or mp3
Melissa, First off, don't export to mp3 during the middle of editing a project. Export to WAV. Exporting to mp3 should be the very last step in a project. As for why Audacity is slowing down, I can't say. Are you still using 1.2.6, or have you moved to the beta? If you're still using 1.2.6, you can ...
