Re: Audacity for multi-tracking

Nice job, Rick. I like Rick's Tune. You've got a good sense of melody, and I don't know how you got such a great chunky rhythm tone out of an acoustic guitar, but I like it.

Re: Can't import wav file

I can't help you with Video Studio 9, but I can take a shot at this: 2. The following day I could not import another noisy stripped audio wav file into Audacity without it crashing Audacity. For one thing it always tried to import the wav file as an MP3 file even though Audacity's settings were set ...

Re: Display SPL vs time?

What exactly are you trying to do? Determine speaker placement? Measure how loud your normal listening is (not a bad idea for those who like hearing things)? Can Audacity display the recorded SPL using a constant recording sample frequency, thus eliminating any information about the frequency of the...

Re: Recordings are clipping. Any ideas?

but once i've converted to .wav or mp3, the skips seem to clean up a lot. Clean up a lot? Or clean up completely? I have one more idea, download and try to use Audacity 1.3.4, as long as you install it to a different directory, you can have both copies on your computer at the same time, they won't ...

Re: Having a Problem with the Recording Volume

I assume you have Audacity set to use the Stereo Mix (or equivalent, it has many names) input to record. In other words, you're not accidentally recording from a built-in microphone or anything like that, right? The input volume control is in Audacity's main screen, towards the top. There are two ho...

Re: Recording Error

Interesting... I don't think it's possible that the act of plugging in analog headphones would cause this sort of behavior. Your computer is completely unaware of whether or not analog headphones are plugged in. The only way I can explain that is if something got shorted out while you were plugging ...

Re: Recording Error

Nice user name. Are you a fellow Atheist? It sounds like something changed your default sound device. Usually this happens when people plug a USB device into their computer. Maybe you have a set of USB headphones? All you should have to do is open Audacity, click Edit -> preferences -> Audio I/O men...

Re: changing the 20 second default length

There's a known bug in Audacity when exporting to a different sample rate. Trust me, it's quite annoying.

For simple resampling, I use r8brain, it's free for Windows users (not sure if Vista is supported).

Re: Audacity for multi-tracking

Whoa, I got linked. Bonus. Don't buy anything from that online store just yet, I need to set it up so that people can buy the whole album for less than the sum of each track, but I have to make some cover artwork for that. I think the whole thing will be $8 initially. And just so we're clear, I used...
