Re: Cant load wav file

Actually, if they're standard multi-channel wavs, Audacity should be able to load them with no problem. I've loaded 44.1KHz 4-channel wavs before. Audacity can't actually play all the channels correctly though, so it loads each channel as a separate mono track. That doesn't mean that Video Studio 9 ...

Re: Recording Error

Not so with some Realtek drivers - some "auto-detect" what you have plugged into the soundcard (on-board). News to me. Thanks, Steve. How do they do this? Measure the impedance? Or is there a specific headphone-only jack? that you set the headphones as an output (not an input) device. Hav...

Re: Lost AUDACITY data file

Katie, I'm not certain, but I think that there's an odd issue moving projects from Mac to Windows. The only technique I know that will certainly work is if you export each track individually and rebuild the project on the new computer. It's not as bad as it sounds. In order to do that, open the Mac ...

Re: Getting started - help please!

Wait, what? Playlist? I think you might have the wrong idea. Audacity isn't a media player, it's a multi-track editor. Are you trying to edit audio files for some final purpose, or just listen to them? In order to import a supported audio file (mp3s and wavs being the most common), just drag and dro...

Re: Nebie Having Trouble

jackobean,

Did you have any labels with the same name in that project? If you do that, Audacity appends "-2", "-3", etc. to the end of the file name. Is that what you mean?

Re: I have read Vista greyed out but still have question

Here's a link to the wiki page on activating hidden inputs: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel I'm going to guess that that's not going to help, but it might. If you can't use the Stereo Mix option, then you have three options: 1) Update your so...

Re: Mac 1.0.0 and Windows (Transferring)

Mac writes big-endian data files (because that is what is native there), but audacity on windows writes little-endian data files (because that's native). After audacity 1.2.2 or so the endianness of the data is recorded and audacity can convert on the fly, allowing you to move projects, but this do...

Re: font troubles

You've also got recordings that are clipping, that's not good. Font problems are Operating System related, so that's where you'll have to fix things. I'm not really sure where to do that, but the language settings are a good place to look first. Are you using a non-english language version of Audaci...

This is beyond my personal level of expertise since you were using such an old version. I'm going to pm one of developers and point them here.

Re: Recording Trouble with timing

s nasty, Welcome to the world of digital recording, first stop, latency issues. The quick fix for you is the use the Time Shift Tool to shift the vocals back into place (it looks like two arrows pointing left and right with a line in between them). A more permanent fix requires the use of Audacity 1...
