They're only necessary if you want to open the project again in Audacity, so once you're done editing and you've exported to wav, the Audac...

Re: slowing down playback
Effects -> Change Tempo.
It doesn't work well for radical changes in tempo, but most plugins like this have the same problem.

Re: Is there a way for audacity to support ASIO?
Yes, you can make Audacity use ASIO drivers, but only if you're prepared to compile Audacity from the source code. I can't tell you how or help you do this. http://www.audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=ASIO_Audio_Interface You should ask for help at the Compiling Audacity forum: http://audacityt...

Re: Eliminating background noise
I thought I could use the sampler to eliminate this background noise throughout the entire track. Did I miss something when using this function? No, you didn't miss anything most likely. The problem is that "background noise" isn't actually Noise in an engineering sense. You won't be able...

Re: Mic separation after stereo split
You shouldn't be. But it depends on how you have things plugged in. Are the signals exactly the same? If they are, then you have something plugged in wrong. Or do they just sound similar? If you have a mixer that your mics are plugged into, it's possible that you haven't panned them out all the way ...

Re: Can't set recording mode
The input selector on Audacity's main screen does not work for many users, including many XP users who use newer drivers that conform more closely to the Vista standard.
You have to go to the Edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu to select your input. The keyboard shortcut is [ctrl]+p.

Re: records on left channel only
I agree that I'd first point the finger at the Behringer. This is the first I've heard of someone having trouble with one, hopefully for this forum's sake (since we've been known to recommend it) yours is simply faulty. First, try using Windows Sound Recorder. Does that work? I'd also recommend rein...
