You shouldn't be. But it depends on how you have things plugged in. Are the signals exactly the same? If they are, then you have something plugged in wrong. Or do they just sound similar? If you have a mixer that your mics are plugged into, it's possible that you haven't panned them out all the way ...

The input selector on Audacity's main screen does not work for many users, including many XP users who use newer drivers that conform more closely to the Vista standard.
