Re: Extracting Voice
Uhhh, Steve: Now putting this into your formula "(Left - Right) + (Left + Right)" we have (Lc -Rc) + (Lc + Rc) = ((A+V/2) - (B+V/2)) + ((A+V/2) + (B+V/2)) =(A-B) + (A+B+V) =2A+V Yes, I agree with that. But look at how you've defined the Left channel: Lc = A + V/2 That's exactly equal to what I said ...

Re: Loss of Signal with Firewire?
Again, because I can hear the sounds fine and the input meters register normally, I can only assume the problem is in Audacity's ability to take the firewire signal and graphically represent it. This is not true. The problem is that the Multimix is spitting out a digital signal that's well below 0d...

Re: concatenating audio files
If they're mp3 files, you'll have to add each one to an Audacity project separately and then use the Time Shift tool to put them all in place (the Time Shift Tool is at the top of the screen, it's looks like two arrows pointing left and right with a line connecting them in the middle). If they're wa...

Re: Sound Cards
The sound card you're using will make a difference. How big a difference depends on what two sound cards you're comparing. I use an M-Audio Delta 1010LT. It's a very nice card for the home studio, but it's got more i/o than most people need. In the affordable card market (cards costing less than ~$1...

Re: CRT or CPU Interference?
goony, Wireless stuff like that broadcasts at frequencies that are much too high to affect a guitar pickup. Anything that got picked up would be filtered out as soon as it hits the guitar cable. That said, if you put your cell phone on top of your guitar pickup, you might hear something, but you'll ...

Which version of the program are you using, and which Operating System?
I've never seen this grid and I can't find an option to turn it on anywhere.

Re: crash after ten seconds of recording through SPDIF-in
As per debuggers, I think Richard was trying to tell you not to worry about it and that you never should have seen that type of error message in the first place.
If you don't know what a debugger is and how to use one, we certainly won't be able to explain everything on this forum.

Re: Portion of silence automatically appended in Wav-file.
If you're changing the sample rate, then this always happens. Sample Rate changes (when done during export) always add some silence to a file. This is a known bug.
If you're not changing the sample rate, then I have no idea what's going on.

Re: Automatic drum replacement?
I don't think any of them will, unless you set Audacity to record that output of the sound card (but that makes it impossible to multi-track while listening to the playback). You can always just use the drum replacement program to spit out a regular wav file. Any wav file like that could be used in ...
