Re: No sound being recorded? Help?

i would like to know if there is a way to play the sound that is being recorded Hmm, good question. I've never worked with surround sound, so I have no hands on experience. Most of this will just be guesswork on my part. I'm certain that "software playthrough" will not give you what you want, that ...

Re: Adjust incoming sound level!

goony, You'd probably benefit from something like this: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?item=SP-ATEN-1 Attenuation => "lower level" (It's basically a volume control cable). I don't know the attenuation factor of that cable, nor do I know what kind of attenuation you need,...

Re: Can Izotope's Ozone 3 work with Audacity?

Most likely it will not work. If it does, it's use will be limited. Audacity cannot support VST GUI's (and therefore many other VST features) due to Steinburg's restrictive licensing. It's a legal problem. Get Steinburg to change their license and Audacity would be likely able to implement full VST ...

Re: Explanation of noise removal requested

The explanation about where the two new sliders go is correct in the wiki. Left is definitely more aggressive than Right. You're right about the explanation, it leaves something to be desired. I'll try to explain it in more detail, but realize that this is just an educated guess on my part, I didn't...

Re: Effects menu is all grey (inactive)

You have to select some audio before you can apply an effect to it. You can do this in the same way you would highlight text in a text editor (hold down left mouser button and drag), or you can press [ctrl]+a to select everything.

Now you should be able to apply any of the effects.

Re: CAN"T OPEN SAVED PROJECTS.........

As long as you haven't gone around deleting or moving files, your projects are fine. You're just opening the wrong file. An Audacity Project consists of two elements, the PROJECT_NAME.aup file and the PROJECT_NAME_data folder (which contains a whole bunch of .au files). It looks like you're trying t...

Re: Poor sound playing exported MP3 on Windows Media Player

Why do we see so many problems with Windows Media Player 11? I can't tell you why WMP sucks so bad, but I can tell you this: Audacity and your CD player are not lying to you. If the audio sounds good playing through those, then there's nothing wrong with the file. The problem is with WMP 11. Just as...

Re: changing the speed of a recording

Okay I get how to select all and go to effect, however 'change speed' is not bolded/highlighted Actually, that's all you need to do. Once a piece of audio is highlighted you should be able to apply any effect to it. I recently read a post where a user was unable to apply effects after using the [ct...

Re: split and insert?

Careful, AudioNewbie. I know this is nit-picking, but you won't be adding your voice to an existing track. You'll be recording a second track and then mixing them together into a new track when you export. Vocabulary is one of the biggest barriers we have to jump over when answering questions here. ...

Re: Trouble with Audacity

First things first, you'll need the LAME mp3 encoder, available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows After that, we need to what piece of equipment you want to record with. Possible answers include: Computer mic, Line In device, speaker output, phone call, etc. Once you know that, you'll n...
