Re: Audacity authorization

Since Audacity is released under the GPL , it's free for anyone to use for any purpose. The only restriction is that if you want to use the name "Audacity" you can't change anything. If you want something that looks official, Dominic Mazzoni is probably the guy to email, his website is here: http://...

Re: Measure numbers

Annoyingly, there is no way to make a "measure bar" that will display which measure you're currently looking at. There's something really similar, if you click project -> new time track. But this just displays seconds. Even more maddeningly you can click on the name of this time track and change the...

Re: Can Audacity be used with Windows 98???

Koz, I don't think a huge number of people are having trouble with their USB TTs. We hear about it all the time, but we only ever hear from people who are having trouble. They do seem to be selling a ton of those things, so I'm sure most people never have a problem. Daddydoc, Most likely it seems yo...

Re: Recording Dilemma!

First off, Have I exceeded the track capacity of Audacity or perhaps the capacity of my sound card? No, and no. You can scratch those two issues off the list. Audacity has no limit and it doesn't use your sound card to mix tracks. You've also got plenty of computing power in your processor for this....

Re: no sound from 1.2.6

When I installed the softwear & followed the set up procedure to choose USB AUDIO CODEC for both the playback device & the recording device, I lost ALL sound to my pc This is exactly what I expect to happen. When you set your Turntable as the output device, your computer is trying to play sounds ou...

Re: Analyzing Tracks

When you select more than one track and use the Analyze -> Plot Spectrum option, Audacity ADDS the signals together. It does not average them. That's a pretty cool experiment. Any chance you can link us to the results when it's done? Put it in "The Lounge" forum if you don't mind doing that. Also be...

Re: Voice disguise; hypnosis special effects

A different "disguise" effect is linked to and described in the last post here:

As for your other effects, without hearing any it's hard to suggest anything.

Re: Amplifying Problems

The "correct" sound card? Who knows? Any card you buy will not have that problem so pick the one you like best. For a bare-bones one that's cheap, the Behringer UCA202 works nicely. Also, it's not necessarily your sound card that's messed up, it might be whatever you have plugged in to it. What do y...

Re: Cave Effect

Audacity comes with Gverb (I think), but it confuses everyone until they read this: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=GVerb I would start with the "church" pre-set, but I'd lower the Damping setting somewhat. In case Audacity doesn't come with GVerb, you can get it as part of the LADSPA p...

Re: Loss of Signal with Firewire?

I'd bet those extra two channels are listed as a different device. If that's the case, then Audacity won't be able to access it at the same time as the other inputs. But I don't know how the drivers are set up, so I can't say for sure.
