Re: lost my audio

What does "I lost my audio setup" mean? The LADSPA plugins should be in the "Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)Plug-Ins" folder. The LADSPA installer will only recognize Audacity 1.2.x, so if you have both versions installed you'll have to manually copy the Plug-ins folder from the folder with Audacity 1.2...

Re: I'm stupid, please help =]

I can't figure out what you're asking. When you want to record the speaker output, set Audacity to record from the Line In input. Your mic shouldn't be involved at all. Also, most mics are mono, you'll never get a stereo signal out of them. If you want to hear the mic during recording (is this what ...

Re: Correction of clipping?

You mean it's trying to fix it but coming up against the limit of the data type?

In that case, just use Effects -> Amplify and try changing the volume by -10dB or so. Then run this new clipping plugin.

Re: Regenereate aup project file

It doesn't look like there's a way to rebuild the .aup file. It's a shame, but that's how it is. You can import all those data files if you want, but it'll be up to you to manually shift them around and place them in the right place. Using the Time Shift tool, you can move clips from one track to an...

Re: no sound in playback when recording YM voice mails

jesse, If you can see a waveform, then you're recording just fine. You'll have to go to Audacity's edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu and make sure the right "playback" device is selected so you can hear things through Audacity. Alternately, you can export that audio you've got now and listen to ...

Re: Time shift tool - Not allowing small increments

You can zoom in further and you'll be able to move it more accurately.

I don't think you can turn the snapping off completely.

Re: Big problem with VST Enabler, please help

Does Audacity give you an error message when you try to start it? I've seen this problem a handful of times, I don't think it's ever been resolved fully. On the other hand, Audacity's VST support is rudimentary at best (no GUI support, no realtime support, no file read/write support, some plugins cr...

Re: Measure numbers

Ahhh, network folder, Ahhh! Network folders and Audacity don't get along. Use a local folder and you should be set. The clipping certainly won't kill Audacity, it's just a good idea for keeping audio quality as high as possible. You can export clipped files without issue if you like. I agree about t...

Re: Alter effects during playback?

Ok you two, but this guy is asking about multi-track recordings. That's MY domain ;) To answer the question, yes, there are things that other programs do better than Audacity. Sometimes much better. This is purely subjective, but Audacity's biggest advantage is that it's easy to use. Audacity is bas...

Re: Missing sections in record

You're getting dropouts that last for several milliseconds? Since they're so short, that rules out missing data files (a fairly common problem). You said these dropouts are periodic, how much time is there between each dropout? Also, are they exactly periodic, or "pretty close"? The first thing to t...
