Re: Recording multiple inputs simultaneously
goony, it's unclear what you mean by "multiple tracks to multiple tracks". Do you mean multiple sources to multiple tracks? Where "multiple" means more than 2? If so, yes. It's up to your hardware to provide all these input channels. I have an M-audio Delta 1010LT card. With it, I can record up to 8...

Re: Recording from a midi keyboard live to Audacity
Excellent post, nice detail.
I had suspected that you were using a different set of outputs to run each signal. It never occurred to me to use more than one sound card though, but I'm glad it works.

Re: very basic question about opening a file
You may be confused about the difference between Saving in Audacity and Exporting. When you click Save Project, you're telling Audacity to store all the audio data currently open in Audacity, and store info about the gain levels and the panning position. Audacity Projects cannot be opened or used by...

Re: no mic input- help!
The computer does not pic up the mic on the hardware test either, which is through the control panel. When I first read this I thought it was obvious that the mic was dead. But then you went and wrote this: it is now happening on multiple computers, with different microphones. And now I'm stumped. ...

Re: New User Visual Problem
Press [ctrl]+[shift]+f to vertically fit all the tracks in one window. Personally I think this is less than ideal since it squashes all the controls on the left if you have more than a few tracks in your project. The alternate way to do this is the drag the bottom of edge of each track, you can make...

Re: Is Audacity Powerful Enough for Professional Use in Gene
I have been looking for a way to simply create a sound and mix it with a constant background sound. I was wondering if Audacity was more powerful than is needed for this task? Yes, Audacity can do this quite easily. And yes, Audacity is capable of a lot more than this. Do professional musicians use...

Re: Noise removal without robotic voice
Contrary to your assumption, there is no easy way to remove noise from an audio signal. Noise (the engineering definition) is very random and it's difficult for your computer to separate the randomness from the signal you want to hear. Noise Removal is an attempt to do that, but it's a very hard pro...

Re: Too hot audio
My favorite analogy is that your cookies are burned. It's impossible to unburn them without scraping the top off and making it more of a mess. One of the developers recommends something to try in this post: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9566#p9566 You'll have to reduce the amplitude ...

Re: M-Audio Delta 1010LT and Audacity
Now the idea is (with a desktop PC and the Delta 1010LT) to route 8 mics (Drums, Bass, two Guitars) into the analogue inputs and use the analogue outputs of the card as inputs to the Desk. Like this we could still use the desk for monitor mix and have 8 individual tracks recorded which can be remix...

Re: Year field in metadata not saved with mp3 by export mult
foxylady, I appreciate your postings even if I've never encountered most of the problems you have. Certainly the bugs/quirks you're finding aren't often make-or-break types, but the fact that you provide detailed information about them is commendable. I think your ability to find the source of a pro...
