Re: very low input level

The first problem is the MC cartridge. Those have a lower overall output compared to MM cartridge. If you're pre-amp isn't designed to deal with this, then it won't work as well as it should. You'll have to either buy a separate phono pre-amp designed for those cartridges, or use the volume controll...

Re: recording help

No, that's not a very good sound card. Those Realtek and Soundmax chips are built onto motherboards and suffer from a few inherent problems due to being close to lots of high frequency components and having to share a power supply with all the other components on the motherboard. When you hear your ...

Re: M-Audio Delta 1010LT and Audacity

Hi, sorry I never got back to you, I've been busy at work and I don't usually post on the weekends. would it be easier to use the channel inserts (6 channels for instruments) and sub outputs (2 channels with the already mixed drums) of the desk to route the output to audacity and, as you say, use th...

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT

When you mention the input drop-down menu, you also need to tell us which one. Most people can't use the input menu on Audacity's main page anymore due to a change in the way companies are writing audio drivers. You have to select your input in the edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu. Learn to use...

Re: Non-linear fades?

Cross Fade is still not as robust as some the fade effects in other software, this is something that Audacity could benefit from improving.

If you can find a Nyquist Fade plugin that's more variable, you'd be able to use that. Let us know if you find one.

Re: Input level too high

If you're recording an analog signal, then you'll have to either adjust the volume on the output of the DAT player, or follow the advice in the link that goony gave you. An attenuating cable will probably work for you. However, if you're recording a digital signal (via S/PDIF), then I'm not sure wha...

If that's a serious question, then I assume you weren't a child in the 80's like I was. ;)

Re: Synchronizing Multiple Tracks

You will definitely get latency, it's unavoidable when using a computer to record. However, this latency shouldn't be variable, especially if you're always recording the same number of tracks. In order to fix it completely so you never have to worry about it you'll need to use Audacity 1.3.4. It's g...
