Re: error while opening sound device?
That error message is pretty generic. It basically says that Audacity either doesn't know how or can't tell your sound card to start recording. There are any number of reasons for this to happen. You could have one or more of the following problems: 1) Trying to use a sample rate that your sound car...

Re: copying waveform graphic
Ahhh, Audacity doesn't do that itself.
I would use straightupwv's advice and use the 'print screen' button. But first I would press [ctrl]+[shift]+f to expand all the tracks to fit the entire Audacity Window. That's the highest resolution picture you'll get out of Audacity.

Re: can't record-help!
Do you have the right input selected in Audacity's edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu? Your computer won't know what input to look at unless you tell it which one you want. It often defaults to mic, but if you plug or unplug certain USB devices, this default is often reset. Alternately, your oper...

Re: Determining Record Levels
So your recordings are clipping, but the indicator isn't lighting, right? I get that problem if I use the M-Audio MobilePre at work and I set it up for mono operation. It's bizarre and it drives me crazy. But if I record in stereo, the problem goes away and I can see the indicator light up. The prob...

Re: Recording problem
Audacity has no recording limit, your problem lies elsewhere. I assume you're using a USB turntable. This is a pretty mysterious problem, I haven't seen a bulletproof explanation for it yet. But we do get this question once a week or so from people using USB turntables. Almost certainly it's an issu...

Re: tracking out mixes
When you say "track out mixes" you should probably define it for us. I have never encountered that phrase. I assume you mean you want to place a bunch of tunes one right after the other. In order to do that, just import them all into a project and use the Time Shift Tool to drag each one into place....

Re: recording with N73 PLZ HELP
Using Audacity 1.3.4, there's an effect called Leveller. I used settings of "Heavier" and "-60dB" and it improved it a tiny bit. It's louder, that's for sure. But seeing as how it was recorded with a cell phone, it's not going to ever be much better than that. You can't magically add quality to a fi...

Re: 352kbps 4-bit Mono 22kHz Microsoft ADPCM Possible?
Something is wrong, but I have no idea where. The Bit Rate is determined by the Sample Rate * Bit Depth * number of channels. A 4-bit mono file sampled 22050 times/sec will turn out to be 88.2KB/s (aka 89KB/s). I don't know how you can have a file with those numbers. Do the ADPCM files that Audacity...

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
Suggestions for recording practices? It's best to post this in the Recording Techniques forum. The easiest way to record a practice might be to simply place a few Omni pattern mics around the room and then have a dedicated vocal/harmonica mic. You might still have to mic the percussion separately. I...

Re: Problems importing WAV files from Adobe Soundbooth
That file from Soundbooth is formatted strangely. I've always been under the impression that the format for wav files was quite rigid and couldn't be altered. It's described here: http://ccrma.stanford.edu/courses/422/projects/WaveFormat/ I took a look at that file in a HEX editor. That Soundbooth f...
