Re: lost my audio
I don't know what to say about the LADSPA issue, it's usually just a simple matter of making sure the files are in the right folder and then restarting Audacity. You got it right with 1.2.x, so I think you know what you're doing. So I'm out of ideas. As for your audio i/o setup, is everything select...

Re: Backup File usage
Use your OS to change .bak to .aup.
But you shouldn't need it unless your .aup file is missing or corrupted.

Re: Keyboard shortcut interference
I've never seen anyone with this problem. The only thing close is that it's impossible to type 'z' into the name of a marker within an Audacity project. I've never seen anyone saying that shortcuts are interfering with saving. Madness. The only thing I can think of is to change all the overlapping k...

Re: Help files Location?
I'm not sure that the manual is actually accessible through Audacity any more. You may have to view it through your web browser (you can still do this off-line, however). Just double click the index.html file that comes in that folder and it will open in your web browser and be somewhat useful. Be a...

Re: Playback audio swaps left and right after recording in s
Ugh, that's an odd problem. Have you tried updating your sound card drivers? You also haven't mentioned if you tried Windows Sound Recorder. It may not sound like much, but it's an incredibly useful diagnostic tool. It really does sound to me like piss-poor driver software. What happens if you recor...

Re: Opening files in Audacity won't work!
Which version of Audacity? What Operating System? What format are the files you are trying to open?
Can you record anything? Can you record something and then save an Audacity project and open that?

Re: no sound on computer!
Randy, You've got the same symptom, not necessarily the same problem. If you're not getting any sounds, then your sound card driver software isn't set up right, or your hardware has failed. The only global controls that Audacity has access to are the input and output volume, so if those are turned u...

Re: Stopping/Starting recording without creating new tracks
I second Steve's idea. Start a new Project for each song, or even for each take. It'll be just as much data, but it'll be much easier to go through later on.

Re: Windows Vista playback/recording issue
I think you have two problems. #1: Playback begins fine, but then tracks start dropping out of the playback until I am reduced to hearing a single track. Most likely your trying to play an older project that was dependent on a sound file (or sound files) that are no longer in the same place as they ...

Re: Problems importing WAV files from Adobe Soundbooth
Yes, AIFF will work. The two formats are damn near identical in composition and the sound quality from the two (as long as the settings are the same) will be identical. And when I say "identical" I mean exactly that.
