Re: I'm looking to buy a TTUSB and need some advice.
Since you already have a nicer turntable, I would recommend buying a new phono pre-amp and temporarily moving the turntable down near the computer (much easier to carry, I would think). I use this one: http://www.phonopreamps.com/tc750lcpp.html With that device, you'll be able to plug in like this: ...

Re: Stopping/Starting recording without creating new tracks
I'm glad to hear it worked, though when I see the words "DI guitar" I kind of break down and cry...
For practice purposes though, it sounds like a good setup. Easy to understand and everything works well enough.

Re: can't record-help!
What kind of a microphone do you have? Is it a USB mic, a professional XLR mic, or a little computer mic with a 3-conductor jack plug? It really sounds like the mic is dead or dying. I can't explain why it's giving you a 1 second delay though, I would expect you to get nothing out of it at all if it...

Re: error while opening sound device?
I can't tell you what's going on with the Recovery Utility. All I know is it's far from being perfect and doesn't work for many people. I think it was designed to help handle one specific kind of crash, but people get and handful of others and the program can't keep up with the differences. I can te...

Re: Opening files in Audacity won't work!
So you're seeing the opening dialog with a progress bar and then sometime after that shows up the program crashes... That's a new one for me. Do you even get the chance to click "play"? Or does it crash before then? Off the top of my head, I can think of a few things you can try to help us narrow it...

Re: Help w/Volume Please
You can load those audio files into Audacity, highlight them one at a time, and click effects -> amplify. If you use the default setting, the files will be as loud as possible without altering the dynamic range. If you need them louder, you have to use the Compressor effect. Do a forum search for "C...

Marbo, in the edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu there is a "Latency" -> "audio to buffer" field. What is this set to?
What happens if you set it to something quite high (like 500 ms)?

Re: "Warbly" sound with guitar recording
You're plugging into a Mic In port. That's the problem. Those ports aren't meant for anything other than a crappy computer mic (with a 3-conductor phono plug, not an XLR plug). If you have a Line In port, use it. If you have a Mic/Line In port (common on laptops now), then see if your driver softwar...

Re: Audacity beta version frozen.
Does it freeze before or after you try to open a project? Does it even display a screen?
If you have the VST enabler, try uninstalling that, it's buggy. If that's not it, then we'll have to narrow it down.

Re: I'm stupid, please help =]
Ok, you want to make multi-track guitar recordings. Possibly with vocals too. Probably not at the same time. This is definitely possible: http://www.myspace.com/andylatham The first thing to do is figure out how you're going to record the guitar. Do you have an amp modeler (like a POD)? Or are you j...
