Re: Question on how Audacity handles its audio files.
When you save a project and close Audacity, only the audio that was present in the project when you saved is actually stored on the hard drive. It's true that Audacity has to store all sorts of information to allow for unlimited undo while it's open, but once you close Audacity you lose all the undo...

Re: M-Audio Revolution 7.1 -- No "Stereo Mix" or "Wave Out"
It definitely looks like a driver issue. I've recently run into some trouble like this myself with my Delta1010LT card. The newest set of drivers removed the ability to record the speaker output. I've since reverted back to the 6-month old drivers that work properly. I suggest you use a slightly old...

Re: Recording Sounds Echo
It sounds like the polarity is switched on one of the channels. This can happen if the turntable is wired wrong, or the cartridge is wired wrong. You can fix what you've already recorded by doing the following within Audacity: 1) Click on the track name -> split stereo track. 2) Highlight only one o...

Bingo! I'd bet you're either missing driver software, or your driver software isn't set up properly. This all happened after a reformat, maybe I am missing drivers.

Re: Opening files in Audacity won't work!
Alternately, you could drag and drop files from Windows Explorer onto the Audacity window to open them.
The real question is why is the "Open" dialog crashing Audacity? That I can't answer.

Re: Making a sound
CMCdragonkai, You seem to be looking for a way to separate a sound file into several different tracks each containing one of the harmonics of the note. This is a cool idea and it would be a great way to make a unique timbre for any instrument quickly and easily. Unfortunately, I don't think Audacity...

Re: tracking out mixes
There's an alternate method that won't require you to make new files (and take up more space). Make a CUE sheet . I use Exact Audio Copy (freeware for Windows) to both make and burn CUE sheets, but the method for making them in that program is not very user-friendly (burning is very easy, however). ...

Re: Help with making selections?
How short are these clips? Even at lower bit rates, a 1KB mp3 is going to be well under 1 second in length. I'm guessing that they haven't actually been written correctly. In order to test that, can you open these files you've created in Audacity? If you can open and play them in Audacity, then the ...

Re: Playback audio swaps left and right after recording in s
The thing about integrated circuits (including sound chips) is that they don't go bad. They either work fine or they fail outright. It is possible that there's some i/o pin on that chip that somehow controls the order of the channels and it's intermittent, but I don't think that's the case. So, I'd ...
