Re: Audacity won't play my recording
Check your Edit -> Preferences menu and see if anything is listed in the Audio I/O tab -> Playback device menu. Is there anything there? What is it?

Re: MP3 Encoding only uses one CPU core?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but exporting compressed audio wouldn't benefit from using multiple processors. I don't think that's a process you can split up in any meaningful way. You can, however, split up the processing when you apply plugins to multiple tracks. It would be nice if Audacity di...

Re: Feedback!!Help!!
You didn't mention anything about what your were recording with. Was it perhaps a microphone? Did you also have your speakers set to monitor the input? That could cause feedback.

Re: Import, normalize, save: runtime now more than double?!
Audacity can't import m4a files (aka AAC files). You'll have to use a different program to convert your m4a files to mp3 before using Audacity.

Re: Audacity & Firewire Solo
You'll probably have to change to input source from the Edit -> Preferences menu instead of that drop down menu in Audacity's main window. [ctrl]+p is the keyboard shortcut. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to make sure your soundcard's software is set up properly. I can't really tell you how ...

Re: Cannot Open Projects (all in bits)
Drafts? What do you mean by that? When you save a project, Audacity creates a PROJECT_NAME.aup file and a PROJECT_NAME_data folder. The .aup file will be immediately outside of the _data folder. You can use Audacity (and only Audacity) to open the .aup file and, as long as your _data folder has not ...

Re: Help on removing noise
It was easy to remove using version 1.3.3. In that example, I just selected the first 1 second of Audio, used that as the Noise Profile in the Noise Removal, and then went back and selected everything, changed the Noise Reduction slider to 20 dB and it worked fantastically. The Noise Remover has bee...

Re: Reaper
I have no experience with Reaper, but I've only run across a few comments saying Audacity is no good for producing a record. I have evidence to the contrary that I'll be posting on my MySpace page someday soon. I've recently finished my new record created entirely in Audacity (except for 1 track tha...
