Re: Export to MP3

What often happens is that people leave it as a zip file without uncompressing the file. That might be the case here.

Re: Where's My Toolbar???

You're right on the money what you said "There must be something with vista and it's sound drivers." Basically, Vista is crap when it comes to audio so far. I'm not sure if it's just growing pains or Microsoft is upping the fascism or the soundcard companies just don't care anymore. Also, from what ...

Re: smallest mp3 file size

I'd use version 1.3.3. It's got more options for exporting to MP3. When you go to the Export box, select the save as an MP3 and then click Options. You can probably get away with a mono file at 64 kbps. You might be able to go lower, but keep in mind that not every MP3 player can play every MP3 file...

Re: delete vedio?

How are you recording the Audio? Your question is very vague and you didn't mention any of the info we need to answer your question. Let us know what kind of equipment you're using, what Recording Source is listed in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu, and where you're getting this aud...

Re: Unable to play tracks

I can think of two possibilities: 1) You have the wrong output device selected. Can you record something (anything) and listen back to it? What is listed as your Playback device in the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu? 2) Your project data might be missing / moved. Have you moved or deleted any...

Re: Newbie needs help!

Weekends are kinda slow here, and we only have a few handfuls of members with more than 10 posts. So sometimes patience is the name of the game. Before I get started, I recommend using 1.3.3 for this kind of work. The labeling system is nicer. 1) How come I can´t scroll through the audio file when I...

Re: How do I change the Artist and Album Title???

In 1.2.6, Project -> Edit ID3 Tags. You'll have to do this before you export every MP3.

In 1.3.3, File -> Open Metadata Editor. Again, you'll have to change this whenever exporting a new MP3.

Re: DSP or Dolby

I agree with Koz. Dolby Noise Reduction is a technology to Compress / Expand audio for use with cassette tapes. It's not going to help you any. Most tape decks have the circuitry for it, so I doubt anyone has written a plugin to do the work in software. As for the DSP plugin, you don't actually know...

Re: Audacity Vs. Vista - yeah we know allready, but still..

You need an external soundcard. The output of your MD player is a Line level and should be plugged into a Line In. Most laptops nowadays don't have a Line In and only have a Mic In. The Mic In is expecting a signal 100 times smaller than what you're putting into it, so it's just clipping like mad. U...

Re: Pre Record Audio Metering

That's good. Can I tell people about you? They won't believe you either. Ouch. Look man, I'm not trying to get into an argument with you or anything, but you should go around saying things like "What everybody--no exception--does in the face of audio problems is click inside the red meters rapidly ...
