Re: noise canceling, out of phase, antiphase

Hmmm.... Is this another hypothetical question? If it isn't, are you trying to do this in realtime, or are you trying to cancel out an unwanted noise in a recorded file? You can do that as long as you're trying to cancel it out of an already existing file, and the sound is regular (exactly the same ...

Re: Removing intermittent high volume sounds

Yes, you can do that, gehang. The effect is called Hard Limiter, it's part of the LADSPA plugins pack . Alternately you can just Amplify the signal by about 12 - 15 dB to get the same effect in this case. But there's a big caveat. This will introduce an insane amount of clipping into those peaks. Wh...

Yes but MP3s can be encoded at a number of different compression rates. So obviously you're simply re-encoding them to a lower quality. But if you've already found software that works, then just use that.

Re: delete vedio?

Basically you want to do one of two things. Either find a program that will pull the audio stream from your MP2 video files or record the music directly using Audacity. I think Virtual Dub can pull audio out of video files. But I don't have any experience and this is out of my element. The other way...

Re: Unable to play tracks

It sounds like a soundcard device problem. Either bad drivers or bad hardware. Do other audio applications work correctly? What Playback Device do you have Audacity selected to use?

Re: Multiple Track Time Shift

You can't in 1.2.x. But in 1.3.3 it's just a matter of highlighting all the tracks and using the Time-Shift tool. I recommend using 1.3.3. But backup all your data to a different file name before opening your projects in the new version. Also, keep in mind that you can have both versions installed a...

Re: Newbie needs help!

I see what you mean. Audacity doesn't work that way exactly. There are two workarounds though. The first is using Export Multiple as I previously mentioned. The second is to work backwards from the ending. Fix up the end of the whole track (remove excess silence, fade out, etc), and then slide back ...

Re: Need advise ...best microphone?

whoah, big topic here. You can ask 100 recording engineers what equipment to use to get the best sound and you'll get about 95 different answers. First off, ditch the headset. It's a terrible way to record a quality voice signal. The mic is way too close to the mouth, or it's off-axis, and the mic i...

Re: roland ua100

Does this popping occur when you record silence? I had a FireWire card that wasn't up to speed that would add pops to my recordings when using a FireWire interface (I tried two different models with identical problems). I suppose a USB device could also have problems. It's unclear what you mean by a...
