Re: Recording Multiple Tracks at Once...
For that Mackie, the first thing you need to do is make sure you're not using ASIO drivers. The company that controls those patents won't let the Audacity devteam release the code for using them. It looks like Mackie supplies WDM drivers though, so that's a good sign. Once that's straightened out, i...

Re: Inserting audio clips.
Nice name, jerk.
Imported tracks always start off at zero. If you want to move them else where you can either copy/paste the audio to a new track or use the Time Shift tool.

Re: It recorded once ...
Piece of advice, if you're frustrated when you start working, don't expect anything to work properly. You didn't tell us much of anything about your setup, so it's difficult to help. The important things to do are: 1) Make sure your mic software is setup properly. I understand that mic is a USB mode...

Re: Sending tracks
It will work provided two things are true: 1) The project is not dependent on any files you've imported into it. Those files need to stay put in relation to where the .aup file is. 2) The project files are arranged properly, I just wrote another post on how they should be arranged: http://audacityte...

Re: Split two voices from one file
Short answer: You can't. Long Answer: You can't, but you might be able to use the Compressor to bring that background voice closer to the front. It's impossible to say if that will work without hearing it though. But I can give you some Compressor settings to try out: First, highlight the whole sign...

Re: Large file loads, is invisible, does not play
At Audacity's default settings, if that mp3 is encoded at 128 kbps @ 44100 Hz it will expand to ~40GB worth of data that Audacity needs to put on your hard drive. 60GB of free space might not be enough. That's a ton of data, but I'm still not entirely convinced that's your problem. If the mp3 is enc...

Re: lost all audio..help!
You probably can get your projects back, but I hope you've learned your lesson about messing with things you aren't sure of. Audacity requires the .aup file to be one folder up from the _data folder. The .aup file should not be in the _data folder, the only files in the _data folder should be .au fi...

Re: how do i insall a mic
You didn't mention anything about your computer or what kind of USB telephone you have. It's hard to help until you tell us that stuff. I can tell you how to set Audacity up to use a mic (though you could have just read some documentation). Open Audacity and click Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O ta...

Re: No audio output via firewire to MetricHalo ULN2 converte
It looks like this is a Mac-only piece of hardware, so I can only offer you limited help. I guess the first thing to do is check and see if your problem is described here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mac_Bugs The built-in speaker connection works, but not the digital output. I'm not...

Re: Convert MP3 player recording (8kHz) to Audio CD?
mikef, I think the problem here is that it's a 4-bit file. I've tried fiddling with Import Raw, but all I could ever get was alot of static and a clip of someone (you?) saying "hello there". The voice was intelligible, but of incredibly low quality. WMP was able to play the file just fine. My guess ...
