Re: Only 7 seconds of recording time -- newbie
The first thing to do is update Audacity to 1.2.6. That's a pretty old version. But that probably won't help. How much space do you have on your hard drive? Also, have you made sure you aren't highlighting anything before you begin recording? If you do that the recording will automatically stop at t...

Re: No audio output via firewire to MetricHalo ULN2 converte
I don't really know what the problem is. But I can tell you that the Mac Specific forum is not far from here. We're in the Audacity Stable -> General forum. You want the Audacity Stable -> General -> Mac forum. I realize that might be confusing, but I don't know how else to tell you how to get to a ...

Re: Clicking after I record
Is the audio clipping?
If the volume is too loud you'll get horrible distortion and occasionally popping sounds. In that case, make sure the recording volume is set at the right level. You set this in Audacity, the control has a small microphone icon next to it.

Re: HELP: after crash, how can I recover data?
The projects are 100% cross-platform compatible.
I occasionally work on 1 project in both Windows and Linux and switch between the two with no problems.

Re: A Bit Of Help With An Effect
There is no way to "fade" that effect in Audacity since it doesn't allow for time-based changes to effects. I'm sure there are other programs that can do it, but I don't know of any that will do it for free. Unless you can find a Pitch Bend effect written in Nyquist, but I'm not aware of any. A Pitc...

Re: sample format 13-bit
Each bit offers you 6dB more resolution. A 16-bit file offers down to -96dB (16*6), while a 13-bit D/A only offers down to -78dB. So, to make the files as loud as possible, amplify them to max at 16-bits and then reduce them by 18dB. If it still sounds off, go down another dB or 2. The only problem ...

Re: Suppresion of Noise.... Please help
I need your wisdom in an apparently very simple task. This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a simple task. In fact, there's a good chance it's flat-out impossible. Once an audio clip has been made, it's impossible to unmix it unless it was specially recorded in a way that makes it possibl...

Re: roland ua100
My guess is that either the unit is defective, or the drivers are poorly written. Also, I can't tell for sure, but I don't think it has a built in mic pre-amp, so once you get it working you'll still have to use a 2-channel pre-amp before the UA-100. Does that mic have (2) 1/4" plugs? If so, you'll ...

Re: how to separate vocal and guitar?
This would work perfectly except for one thing: L and R line out to my laptop, connecting through a stereo miniplug in the mic input . Mic inputs are mono. I'm surprised you were even able to record to 2 channels, usually the drivers complain. I'm also going to guess you were monitoring through the ...
