Re: Recording in stereo, comes out mono
If your stylus is poorly aligned this will be a big problem. Does your turntable play normally elsewhere?

Re: Converting Mono to Stereo in Batch (after recording)
Uh... Mics are mono devices. Unless you have a stereo mic (which is actually 2 mics next to each other), you can only get 1 channel from it. You should be recording in mono. Copy and pasting 2 mono channels into a stereo signal doesn't actually get you a stereo signal, it's just a mono signal that t...

Re: sample format 13-bit
Actually, I was wrong about the peak of a 16-bit sample, it is +32,767 as you say.

Re: A Bit Of Help With An Effect
Nyquist is an audio programming language. Audacity supports it natively. When you find a Nyquist plugin, all you have to do is put the .NY file in Audacity's plugins folder and start Audacity, it will show up in the Effects menu upon startup. Unfortunately, searching for Nyquist plugins can be a lit...

Re: Can't Record Tapes
You were probably clipping the input signal. While the sound is recording, take a look at the red meters in Audacity, These should NEVER reach all the way to the top or you'll have to start over with the recording. If they do, the end of the meter will light up with a red bar (hard to describe, but ...

Re: how to separate vocal and guitar?
It separates a stereo signal into 2 different channels so you can alter one channel differently from the other. If you need to, you can also take those two separate channels and make them each mono so you can pan them wherever you like.

Re: Recording From Sound card
If you have that option, it's in the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O -> Recording Input drop-down menu. If you don't have that option, it's up to your soundcard drivers to provide it. If you use Windows, here are some instructions for Vista, I don't think they're much different if you use XP: http:...

Re: Inserting audio clips.
If you paste to a new track, the audio will go to the beginning. In order to paste to a specific time point, you need to have a track in the project that you want to paste to. Place the cursor on this track and press paste. If you want an empty track, Projects -> New Audio Track or Tracks -> New -> ...

You didn't tell us what you're trying to record or anything about your computer.
Also, punctuation is your friend.

Re: Newbie Help
That's not a regular PCM wav file. It's an ADPCM wav file. Does Audacity give you a warning when you try to import it saying you need to use Import Raw? In many cases you can use Import Raw to import that, but you'll need to find out what the sample rate and bit depth the file is at, and you need to...
