Re: Creative Xmod help please
Koz is right about the external effects not getting picked up. That's a hardware thing, I'm sure. If we unplug the Xmod, Audacity still doesn't recognize the sound until we've done a restart. Probably because it's been set as your default soundcard and your OS doesn't reset it unless you tell it to ...

Re: new here need some help please
Import them both into your project, and adjust the gain as you see fit for each track. Then use the Time Shift tool to move one relative to the other and you should be done.
When you play the project back, you should hear both of the sound effects playing.

Audacity can't open AAC files (aka .m4a or .mp4).

Re: dividing tracks
amretired2, Audacity 1.3.3 handles labels better than earlier versions, you will probably have better luck using that version. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. For me, it's a matter of click on the track, pressing [ctrl]+b (add label), typing in a label, then repeating. Perhaps you aren't click...

Re: [Vista] I can't choose input source
I've just installed last drivers, but combobox is still disabled. What can I do? If adjusting the settings of your OS's audio software (covered in that link I gave you earlier) didn't help, then the only other option is to get new hardware or wait for proper drivers. If you want new hardware, I hav...

Provided you already had a Turntable, yes, that would have been a better option.BOF wrote:I would probably have been better off just with Audacity and using a deck and amp to the soundcard's line in input

Re: Conflict??
VST is a plugin standard. Audacity has only very minimal support for VST plugins. I don't recommend using them unless you test each one rigorously first. Some VST plugins crash audacity.
I wouldn't worry about VST or the VST enabler unless you really really want to.

Re: Recording Multiple Tracks at Once...
Don't worry about ASIO drivers, if you can get one channel to record then you're not using ASIO drivers. Nothing would work if you were. So Audacity only lists the Onyx400f as one single source? It might help to go through your OS's Audio Setup software. You might also get some help from Mackie, I'd...

Re: Bass Boost Flustered!
ohillary,
You'll have to look at what the instructions for the turntable say to do? Do they mention using software to filter the audio after recording? If they don't, then the turntable probably does it's own RIAA filtering.

Re: Newbie Help
I just looked at the data for that recorder. It only records to WMA format, so Audacity can't open it. You'll have to use a different piece of software to convert from WMA -> WAV. On a side note, I'm very surprised that you use a handheld recorder to try to pick up paranormal audio. I would assume t...
