Re: how to make the sound "normal"

Are you trying to record at a sample rate that your soundcard doesn't support?

Everyone should be able to record at 44.1KHz, is that what you're using?

Re: Editing an imported WAV file

It might be coming up at the wrong sample rate. If you're using Windows you can right click on the file and click Properties -> Summary -> Advanced and Windows will tell you what it thinks the sample rate is. Does that match up with what Audacity says? I take it this file plays ok in other software,...

Re: Static Only when Recording

In Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu do you have "software playthrough" checked? That needs to be unchecked to record streaming audio.

After you select a file name and format and click ok, Audacity takes you to a menu that you can use to mix to many channels. But I have neve...

Re: Get off the Pot!

The next stable release will be called 1.4, so I've been told.

I'm also supposed to help write the manual for it, but I haven't had any time. Funny how graduating from college eats away at your free time.

Not likely, given that it's a proprietary format controlled by Creative.

Re: exported sound problem

Re-import the file you've exported into Audacity, does it sound (and look) ok there? If you can play the whole project without lighting the clipping warning light in the Meters then it should output just fine (the end of the meter will turn red if you've clipped the output during playback). The othe...

Re: problems with recording

Is it just me, or do all the people who have this problem use a USB turntable? This is something we should be looking into.

I wonder if the USB turntables are not very well designed soundcards.
