Re: Can't get recording option to work with new soundcard

"recording device is busy now, try again later" This is the best error message I've ever seen. Bar none. "Recording device is too sleepy to wake up" Have you selected the soundcard as the recording device in Audacity? That's in the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu? Does it ...

Re: VIEW METERS NOT SHOWING

You mean the meters simply aren't there?

In 1.3.3, try View -> Toolbars -> Reset Toolbars. Does that help?

Re: Recording skips - just like a CD

It probably has more to do with the number of tracks playing at once, rather than the length of time. Remember that Audacity only loads a certain amount of each clip at a time, the total length of the project won't change how much data Audacity needs to swap around while recording.

Re: STEREO TRACK PROBLEM!

If you've accidentally plugged into the Mic Input on your soundcard, you'll only get a mono signal out of it (but Audacity will try to record in stereo if you have it set to do this). Are you plugged into the right input source on your soundcard? Most people will be using Line In most of the time. W...

Re: Recording live is a problem.

Could it be 44.1 / 48 ?

I think it can.

systemfuck,

Try recording a short throwaway project at 48KHz, does that work alright? You've probably got a bad clock on your soundcard. Either that or it's forcing you to work at a different clock rate. You might need new hardware to record at 44.1KHz.

Re: Track Editing

13zombies, Are you planning on using the Yamaha to do the mixing for each track and sending a stereo signal to Audacity? Or are you going to record each track one at a time into Audacity from the Yamaha? The first option is totally do-able. The second is going to make you pull out your hair unless y...

Re: Best Recording Rate for Vinyl & tapes ?

All the audiophiles went nuts Don't you mean "All the audiophiles are nuts"? If you're burning to CD, set Audacity to record at 44.1KHz, 32-bit. When you're done, use Amplify with the whole track selected and use the default setting. This will give you the maximum dynamic range you can ca...

Re: Editing Sound on Karaoke CD+Gs. Can it be done?

As a musician, I would find this method very irritating to play along to. Especially for the drummer. But if you want to try, there are several problems: 1) You would need special CD+G burning software that can properly interlace the graphics with the audio. If that exists then you've crossed the fi...

Re: logitech usb mic clipping

He did mention that condenser mics, like the Q1U, seems to work the best when you’re talking or playing directly into them since they aren’t self powered. Knowing this they’re probably not the best for my situation since I want more of an ambient room recording. I disagree. The thing that makes the...
