Wait, you can record overdubs through Gearbox while listening to the previous tracks?
*is surprised*
I can't really help with the drum machine, I'm shocked that you can even get Gearbox working. This is the first I'm hearing about that.

Re: Creating a looping ringtone...
It can't be done if it's an MP3 file. All of the MP3 encoders leave a small amount of empty space at the end of each MP3, this is the gap you're hearing. There's no workaround unless your phone can deal with it (iPods can do this, there's no reason a phone couldn't).

Re: Tracks don't get synchronized
Clock drift. Best guess is that it's a hardware problem. You've probably got a motherboard sound card.
Try recording at a different sample rate (e.g. 48KHz). Does that help?

Re: White Noise
Ahh, thanks. I've never heard of a white noise problem with a USB turntable. Is the stylus adjusted / mounted properly? If that was loose I could see it adding a lot of extraneous noise to the signal. In my mind, this is the most likely problem. One other thing we see a lot here is that the gain con...

Re: White Noise
Wow, that was a little hostile. I've been working with and on computers for over 20 years, so the statement you send would imply I'm stupid. Not good. Hostile? Stupid? Rather than implying you're stupid, I was trying to tell you that we need more information to go on. Give me the benefit of the dou...

Re: horrible feedback kinda sound
You can select your recording source in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu. The drop down menu on Audacity's main screen is disabled by quite a few drivers. You need to select your Turntable (not Line In). I don't know what it will be called exactly. Also make sure you have 'Software P...

Re: White Noise
This is pretty bare bones. What are you recording? What do you have plugged into your sound card? What sound card do you have? What input source do you have Audacity set to use? Is your operating system set up right? Even more, what operating system are you using? We can't help if we don't know what...

Re: Computer keeps crashing
I've seen failed cards. Two of them (though over the course of several years). But you're probably right, it's more likely the PCI slot that is to blame.
