Re: Need help solving this..
Are you monitoring through Audacity, or through your sound card's drivers? You really should have the sound card set up to handle all the monitoring, Audacity isn't well equipped to do it. If you're getting 20-30 ms through your sound card directly, that's really lame. If this is the case and you're...

Re: Output monitor - clipping indicators
Well, some signals can get away with a little bit of clipping, as long as they already sound pretty harsh. But it's always frowned upon from an engineer's perspective unless you want the distortion. You might have your OS set to drop the volume of the output down quite a bit, outside of Audacity. Yo...

Re: drum machine
What recording source do you have listed in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu when you are recording using Gearbox?

Re: Tracks don't get synchronized
Then it seems your hardware just isn't working right. You either need a new sound card or to return your motherboard if it's still under warranty.
The Behringer UCA202 gets recommended a lot. It's not great, but it's cheap and I haven't seen any complaints about it.

Re: Recording problems at 40seconds in second track.
This is really bizarre. Let's back up for one second. Do you have one hard drive, or more than one? If you have more than one, is your temporary directory in Audacity (edit -> preferences -> directories) set to be on the same drive you're saving to, or is it set to a different drive? Also, how long ...

Re: Monitor Input distortion
You've almost certainly got a motherboard sound chip. Most people would call that a Sound Card, but it isn't technically correct since the audio circuitry doesn't reside on it's own circuit board. As far as your operating system is concerned, you have a Sound Card (the two most popular models are th...

Re: horrible feedback kinda sound
That last post is a little confusing. You said it works ok through your hi fi and your pc. But then you also said you constantly get the noise while playing through the pc. Can you clarify that for us? You should be able to monitor the turntable signal through the PC speakers without hearing anythin...

Cool effect. It took a little bit of visualizing, but I get what you're saying. I'm sure people would get some good use out of it as long as you can choose the rotate speed.

Re: recording multiple tracks
Are you recording all your tracks in stereo or mono? It's best to record any non-stereo instruments (most of them) to a mono track. Stereo tracks take twice as much computing power to generate / edit. I don't know how much difference the sound card makes. I think Audacity does all the computations f...

Re: Noise Removal > Get Noise Profile > Crash
Doesn't happen to me at work. platform: Windows XP PRO 2002 - w/SP2 Pentium D 3GHz 2G RAM Dell Optiplex GX620 Soundmax digital audio I tried it with Wav files, and an MP3. Both 1.2.6 and 1.3.3. Noise Removal works perfectly for me. I was selecting about .5 seconds of noise. I wonder if the size of t...
