Re: project rate changes
The LAME encoder forces the sample rate down lower if you use some of the smaller bit rates. I know for sure that the 64kbps rate will drop the sample rate down. Not sure about 96kbps.

Re: a big recording problem
You'll have better luck asking in the "Audacity 1.3.3 - GNU/Linux" forum. Most of us don't have a lot of GNU/Linux Experience. The few of us that do tend to spend most time in that forum. Be sure to mention which flavor of Linux you have, it makes a big difference since Audacity tends to b...

Re: Recording ram files
Don't worry about the questions. We wouldn't volunteer here if we didn't want to answer them. You'll need to work with your Operating System software before working with Audacity. The Audacity setup is a piece of cake compared to the Operating System (you might already have Audacity setup correctly)...

What Koz says is right on. Especially at a show that would be as loud as Explosions in the Sky.

Re: mp3 exporting problem
This is a known bug in 1.3.3. If you attempt to minimize, change the window size, or switch the focus to different programs, the progress bar gets stuck. This occurs in 1.3.3, but not 1.2.6. And you can have more than one instance open, but you can only open a second instance by selecting File -> Ne...

handymanjay,
In that case you would need to save as an Audacity project. No other program will be able to open it, but the markers will stay put.

Re: Cannot Record--Help!!
honey, This wiki page should help you out, there's a big grey box right at the top of this link: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel That page should tell you how to set your driver software up right, but you might need new drivers, in which case...

I use the ART tube pre-amp. I love it. Koz, your criticisms of tube equipment are generally correct, but there's one thing you should know about the ART pre-amp: It's designed with very different circuitry than what is usually used in Tube equipment. The Tube is run at 12 volts instead of the usual ...

Re: Recording problems at 40seconds in second track.
I agree about Creative cards. They sound fine during playback but they offer only piddling recording quality. I would only recommend a Creative card to someone who has no interest in recording audio. So I'm glad you're looking elsewhere. Personally, I use an M-Audio Delta 1010LT. It cost me $160 on ...

It certainly seems like you've got a dead USB turntable. I can't think of anything else to try.
