Re: mp3 exporting problem

You're right, WC.

That's good to know, I never knew that. I guess I've never tried to open up two different instances of 1.3.3. But 1.2.6 definitely doesn't work.

You also can't have 1.2.6 and 1.3.3 open at the same time.

Re: promlems with echo in audacity

The echo effect doesn't work as well as a Delay effect would since you can't enter the number of echoes you want (just like in real life). I recommend downloading the LADSPA effects pack: http://audacityteam.org/download/plugins There is a Delay effect in there that is much more straightforward to u...

Re: volume diabled when recording

This is the wrong forum for this question.

But I'd bet that you don't have "play other tracks while recording" selected in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu. I'm 99% sure that's the problem.

Re: problem exporting to .mp3

You're right, LAME doesn't support high sample rates at low bit rates. Technically the MP3 format allows for it, but LAME won't let you. I don't know if other encoders will let you, but I do know that you can't (at the moment) use different encoders with Audacity. So the only way to try different en...

Re: Can't hear audio from file

You said your computer plays other files just fine, but you didn't specifically say that Audacity plays sounds just fine. Is that true? I'm guessing it is. What kind of a file is this that you're importing? The 'needle' will move slowly if you're zoomed out a lot. What kind of scale are you zoomed o...

Re: can't download Nyquist plugin "Regular interval labels"

Yes, you can copy/paste the code into a text editor. Save the file as a .NY file and put it in Audacity's Plugins folder. It will show up upon Audacity's next startup. It should be safe, in that it won't corrupt anything, but it might crash Audacity if something funny is going on. In that case just ...

Re: Creating MP3 w/ track titles

Transcriber is right, the MP3 format doesn't support multiple tracks like you've described. There might be some software that will work that way (for instance, I know that Amarok under GNU/Linux will read a CUE sheet along with a WAV file and support multiple tracks this way), but I don't know of an...

Re: Recording from Crown Mixer

It depends on how that piece of equipment works.

Does Windows recognize it as a sound card? If it does then you should be able to select it in Audacity's Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu.

If it doesn't work like a sound card then you're probably out of luck.

Re: alligning tracks

1) is it possible to only move a section of a track. i.e. if a guitar track starts in time but because of the latency of audacity it begins falling slightly behind the beat, can i move the part of the track forward without affecting the start of the song? 2) when alligning tracks, is it possible to...

Re: 78's - record at 78 or 45? and correct sequence of proce

There's a pretty good old thread on this: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=382&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=78+rpm About your stylus, it's probably best to have a stylus meant for 78s. The sizes were different back then, so that's the first thing to get righ...
