Re: samson q1u usb in audacity beta
This is something I've also noticed, and I'm not sure where the problem originates. It seems to be a subtle difference in the way audio drivers are used in the newer versions of Audacity. I have the same problem at working using an M-Audio MobilePre, it will clip at -3dB unless you record in stereo ...

Re: What is an FFT filter?
I have to take serious issue with this statement: the FFT is a special case of the Fourier transform. in most cases it is only used as a marketing gimmick. What? Marketing gimmick? FFT isn't an effect, it's just a description of how the effect is being applied. The FFT function makes use of some of ...

Re: Recording playback issues
Without knowing anything about camstudio, I'd guess it's probably thrown your OS's audio settings out of whack. Check the Control Panel settings and make sure there's nothing crazy going on (I can't tell you exactly how to do that, I'm not sure what might have changed). You should also open up Audac...

Re: Audacity working with DAW controller Tascam US224
Sorry this reply is so late.
No, Audacity won't work with that (at least not fully), Audacity isn't a DAW. That thing does seem to have some pre-amps in it that should probably work, but you'll have to plug them into your sound card unless this Tascam works as it's own audio device.

Re: How to Increase Dynamic Range
Steve Harris' SE4 effect is supposed to do this, but I have no experience using it: http://plugin.org.uk/ladspa-swh/docs/ladspa-swh.html#tth_sEc2.93 All of the plugins I've used by Steve have been of high quality, so I'd expect nothing less from this particular one. If you don't already have this ef...

Re: How can i create tracks?
Sorry this reply is so late. Your first description will work, but you don't want to do that. You can also do this using only one track, but you'll need to work outside of Audacity to do it. Wav files weren't designed to have extra information embedded in them. You'll need to make one long wav file ...

This wiki page should give you what you need:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... ate_tracks
I'd skip right to the part called "Labels."

Re: How to manipulate exact amplitude values?
if i SLIGHTLY decrease the numbers, the signal gets LOUDER. If i further decrease the numbers i get a softer sound. Why is that? When you first open the "amplify" effect, it analyzes the signal and gives you a default value that will amplify the signal as much as possible without clipping. If you a...

jim,
You should take a look at the stylus on your ION. Panning problems like that are usually the result of a misaligned stylus.
