Only if you want to manually open all 13000 and re-encode them, loosing quality. For a batch tool, look at replay gain and some sort of automatic analysis program.

There is another beta coming, which should be followed by a stable release shortly unless more issues come to light. It takes a lot of time to fix regressions, chase down and fix crashes and so on when you have an active team of about 6 people working in their spare time.

KOS: Please submit a patch - the developers will be very interested. In the mean time you can always drag the edges of a selection to change them, then add a label at the selection once it's right - which works rather well. Or you could just split out that section to a new track if you prefer.

In 1.3.3 there is a Truncate Silence effect for the purpose. It's not perfect for the reasons described, but at least it can cut down on the waiting. Alternatively you can try the Silence Finder in the Analyse menu to mark up the silences and then delete them by hand, but at least it finds them for ...

The usual reason for having it on is for all the USB turntable users who otherwise can't hear the turntable whilst recording, because they are recording and playing on separate devices, which makes hardware monitoring impossible.

Depending on how the package you are using was compiled, the sound mixer control support may have been omitted altogether when the package was compiled, in which case you either use alsamixer, or recompile audacity.

How are trying to do this, and in what version of audacity? This isn't something that anyone else has reported. Edit > Split should do what you are trying to do.

It's under Effects in 1.3.3. If you have a very old beta version like 1.3.1, then it's not included. Upgrade to the real world!
