Thanks, Transcriber, your suggestion solved my problem. I thought it was a choice of selection in Audacity that I couldn't find, but it was actually a choice of selection in my Mac's sound preferences. Works fine now.

I'd like to record a cassette tape with Audacity 1.3.3 for Mac. My computer is an Intel iMac. I connected the tape player's headphone jack to my mac's audio in jack. However, Audacity only gives me one recording option - internal microphone. How do I record my tape?
