Interview: What to do about the noise on the non-speaking pa
Over the weekend I did my first interview using SkypeOut and MX Skype Recorder. Worked like a charm. (I'm a real noob and at this point in my podcasting, I'm going for quick-and-dirty. Later I'll enhance my skills.) The only problem is that I notice that there's a little bit of noise on the track of...

Re: Recording Skype calls with Audacity 1.2.6
I downloaded a program called MX Skype Recorder and it did an excellent job of recording both sides of the conversation. Now I just have to figure out how to apply noise removal to only one "side" of the conversation I think I figured it out. I had to split the stereo track into two separate tracks...

Re: effects - normalize vs amplify
Okay, I know this is the type of question that will drive the experts crazy, because it shows that I have absolutely no grasp of the theory and concepts behind audio recording. It's sort of like someone using a word processor for the first time and asking if he/she should play with the kerning on ch...

Re: How to adjust relative gain when recording in stereo?
Yes, you're right -- I did mean un available. After I posted my message, I continued looking for information and found this thread, which seems to be similar to what you're saying: http://www.audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3517&p=13692&hilit=+amplify#p13692 I also didn't realize what db...

Re: Phone recording volume too low
I'm a real newbie, so this might not be the best suggestion, but how about using Skype? You'd want a program that records Skype conversations, but if you go to http://www.downloads.com, you'll see quite a few of them listed. Hot Recorder and MX Skype Recorder are two. I just recorded a Skype convers...

Re: How to adjust relative gain when recording in stereo?
I'm a complete newbie here, so I apologize if this is obvious. I just recorded a Skype conversation using MX Skype Recorder and it went well. Thanks to the excellent suggestion in this thread about splitting a stereo track in two, I now have the right channel (me) and the left channel (the person I ...
