Re: warning after opening audacity
I had the same problem once and chose the first option, replace missing data with silence permanently. It just happened again, so I thought I'd look on the forum for info. I did delete a lot of material before I closed the last session -- I'm cleaning up an interview and deleting dead space, flubs (...

Yes, I'm using 1.3.9.You posted in the 1.3 forum, so I hope you're actually using 1.3.

Re: CHANGING VIEW WHEN GENERATING SILENCE
Okay, that was aggravating. I did what I said, having tested it before I posted, and this time it had different results. 1. I recorded the piece I wanted to insert. It recorded on a separate track, as expected. 2. I selected and copied (Ctrl-C) that piece. 3. I positioned the cursor where I wanted t...

Re: CHANGING VIEW WHEN GENERATING SILENCE
Every time I 'Generate Silence' the view changes automatically to the 'Fit in Window' view. I then have to zoom in or out to get back to where I was working in 'Normal View'. So, this is normal behavior? I just recorded a podcast and realized that I left out a news item. I went to the place I wante...

Re: Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
Hi, Koz. Thanks for answering and thanks for the info on Chris' Compressor. In the past I've used The Levelator by The Conversations Network. According to their site, it "adjusts the audio levels within your podcast or other audio file for variations from one speaker to the next, for example. It's n...

Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
I have a podcast episode where it's just me speaking. Because I'm not a professional and don't have the best equipment, I have microphone noise and differing levels among sections of my podcast. (For example, the Intro, Item 1, Item 2, and so on aren't necessarily the same level because I'm not good...

Re: MP3 imported file sounds garbled
Sorry! It's one I'm working on now, not one on my site. I just pasted in that sig line without thinking. I haven't exported the file to MP3 yet, but yes, I'm thinking it will only get worse.
I did change my MX Skype Recorder settings to save as .WAV for the next time.

MP3 imported file sounds garbled
I recorded a Skype interview using MX Skype Recorder, but I didn't realize that I had set up MX Skype Recorder to save the file as .MP3 instead of .WAV I imported the interview into Audacity to edit it. The voice sounds a little warbly in Audacity, even though it sounds fine if you play the straight...

Re: Interview: What to do about the noise on the non-speakin
Thanks for the info. I ended up finding the tiny blips in the non-speaking part and using Noise Removal to sample the noise and then selected the non-speaking part and applied noise-removal. It seemed to help, but I'm not sure. I'm still learning about audio in general. Are you recording each conver...
