Re: Preamp signal low
I think I would go with the tape output. I run out of the DAT output, analog signal to DAT recorder, from my Technics SUx902 which is a combined pre/power amp - but I believe the DAT output is fed from the pre-amp not the power amp. With the TT plugged to the phono in of the amp. This gives me good ...

Re: Newbie: Stops recording after a few minutes
My ION worked fine with both 1.2 and 1.3 - better with 1.3 When I first used Audacity, it did stop occasionally - but I followed advice from the forumn which was to: 1) make sure I had plenty of free discspace 2) defragged the disc (Windows user) 3) stopped as many background programs as possible. S...

Also, ensure that you play the tape back with the same Dolby setting that it was recorded with.

Re: using Presonus Firebox, can't get input 2 to work
I read that Audacity isn't compatible with ASIO - is this correct? IIRC from reading other posts on the forum, the reason that ASIO is not supported is down to IPR licensing issues. I think that you can reconfigure/recompile Audacity to work with ASIO. Try searching the forum for advice - or maybe ...

Re: Correction of clipping?
Basically no - once youv'e got clippping, youv'e got clipping. You must avoid it in the original recording - that's what the meters are there for. Do you realize that in 1.3 you can drag the meter toolbar down to below the main toolbar and then stretch it out - I have mine stretched across the whole...

Re: Those dinky meters
It would be nice to see a meter configuration option in a future release to allow permanent selection of a larger meter display. And I agree with your disagreement regarding the term "worthless." Usage of the tiny meters is more or less awkward... very awkward. For some reason this thread...

Re: Recording From Vinyl
Agreed Mick - I started off with a USB TT (the ION) it did a reasonable job - and I had no problems with the USB connection at all. In the end though I got fed up with the amount of wow&flutter that I got on some recordings (almost certainly down to the extremely lightweight plastic playyer on t...

Re: mp3 to aup
Should work fine if you have a proper MP3 - it won't work if you have an AAC file say (from iTunes)

Re: Telling Audacity to stop recording
John, AFAIK 1.3 can do everything that 1.2.6 does and much more - though 1.3 does somethings in a slighly different way to 1.2. The allleged benefit of 1.2.6 is that it is the officially declared stable version. I personally have been using 1.3.x for LP concersion/cleanup for several months now and ...

Re: Producing CDs for sound system play
russell, You neeed to burn a music CD and not a data CD. You will need some cd burner software for this like Nero or RecordNow etc - even iTunes can be used to burn CDs from playlists. I suspect that you have just been dragging and dropping the WAVs onto the CD - in which case you will definitely ha...
