did you take the associated data folder (for the .aup) and all the little .au files that it contains, over to the other computer - if not it won't work. The .aup file contains no audio itself (that's all in the little .au files) - the .aup is just a set of instructions and pointers to tell Audacity ...

Audacity OOTB is set up to default mono - you need to go to Edit/Preferences and select the Audio I/O tab - and set the "Channels" to "2 (Stereo)"

Have you tried selecting the unwanted section and hitting the Delete key (or use Edit/Delete) - you only need to cut if you also want to paste.

Or you can play the file in whatever software you have that will play it - and record it into Audacity. This will take longer, but should work.
