Re: Computer speakers stop when recording
frbj, It is most likely that your USB device has hi-jacked the audio output, as they tend to do, as well as the input - and your M-Audio doesn't have speakers to play sound. From the Windows control panel go to Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio - there you can set the sound output device back to your P...

Re: Novice questions
- Recent topic clarified for me which file to open (*.aup) when working on an file not yet converted to wav or mp3. But when i open the aup file, i can't find the track i was working on. It just is a blank format ready to record another track. TSuber It will be where you told Audacity to file it an...

Re: Novice questions
- How do I expand the view of the waveform so that it is not so minimized that i can't discern the silences? Using the magnifying glass on the left hand ruler will only expand so much. Is that the limit? To facilitate this i have had to set the view to ""fit vertically". TSuber You n...

Re: Year field in metadata not saved with mp3 by export mult
foxylady, It passses through ok of you select the ID3v1 rather than the default ID3v2 tagging. IMHO the default is wrong - the V1 is much more generally applicable - you don't get that much more in the v2 - and what's more apparently, some MP3 players can't handle the V2 MP3s and won't play them - V...

Re: Poor sound playing exported MP3 on Windows Media Player
You could try downloading iTunes - it's free even if you don't own an iPod - and it runs on PCs just fine. Makes a good jukebox/music player.

jenny,
just select the portion of audio you want to slow down (CTRL+A for the whole project) and use Effect>Change Speed.

Re: Can't use "/" in track names when exporting multiple
Foxylady, I now use 1.3 all the time and it has proved eminently stable and usable for LP transcription and repair - and despite the "unstable" label that this releases has - the latest versions of 1.3 are in fact pretty stable now. 1.4 is currently being worked on (based on 1.3.5) and sho...

Re: Playlist in Windows Media Player
Not from Audacity, no. The basic problem is that WAV files do not carry metadata tags (unlike MP3 files which do). But you need to stick with the WAV files for CD production. You could try using iTunes to manage your playlists and CD burning - it can even be used to print sleeve liners with track li...

Re: Can't use "/" in track names when exporting multiple
1. yes 2. would have been good - Audacity has a number of areas where error reporting is por, confusing or lacking 3. as above 4. you can do this in the Beta version of the software - 1.3.x where label handling is much improved. Note that if you have installed Audacity from the CD that came with you...

Re: Lotsa noise, unpredictable spot, USB turntable
I read the post where developers feel it's time to "give up" on 1.2.x with USB systems. What? IMO that's a pretty lame attitude. The problem is with Audacity - so fix it. Silverface, no it's not really a "lame attitude" - I would guess that it's a pragmatic decision made ...
