Re: Newbie Question: Controlling/Viewing Input Levels
1) What's a "GUI"? Its a Grahical User Interface - i.e. what we all (Unix users apart) use now with Windows and Mac applications. In the old steam-driven computer days can you believe that people actually had to type in lines of cammands to make programs do stuff - or even feed them decks...

Re: Concatenating Files
Don't touch the .au files ..... When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name_data> 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of ...

Re: Newbie Question: Controlling/Viewing Input Levels
The reason taht you can't control the signal level is that your USB device has taken control of the signal - the mic slider becomes inoperative with most USB devices. There may be a gain control on your USB device that you can vary. You can montor the level before you record - all you have to do is ...

Re: Year field in metadata not saved with mp3 by export mult
foxylady, I almost always use Multiple Export as I am normaly exporting multiple LP tracks, so I'm not sure how the other exports work (and can't test at the moment as I am recording right now - a very nice Haydn symphony). In 1.3 when you Export Multiple and select MP3 as the output format - when y...

Re: Fixing oversound
This is called "clipping" - and ideally you should aim to set your levels so that clipping doesn't occur - it sounds horrible and its's often not psooble to fix. Tapes were a little more foorginving you could push the odd peak or two into the red and the physics of tape technology would ta...

Re: New Guy on the Block-No Playback, no waveform
If you want to hear the sound while you are recording I think you will need to reset your Software Playthrough to ON. That is certainly how my Audacity settings are - and I can monitor ok. Also check that Audacity output is tragetting your soundcard properly Edit>Preferences>Audio I/O. And ensure th...

Re: CAN"T OPEN SAVED PROJECTS.........
And as Koz normally reminds people .... when you have finished your projects, don't keep them stored as projects - rather, export them as WAV files (more transportable and not prone to dailure by file movements).
