Re: Audacity mixing of Songs & Amplifcation
Record the two songs as two separate tracks in a single Audacity Project. Use the Time-Shift tool to move the second track so that it starts before the end of the first track (the amount of overlap is up to you). Then select the first track and Fade Out over the overlap period. Select the second rac...

Re: ??? on Editing tricks
It's not really that Audacity are unstable - they are tricky things to move about and they are not designed for long-term storage or for use on any music playing software (e.g. WMP or iTunes). An Audacity projuct should be used for the duration of you project - one per LP is what folkes would normal...

Re: ??? on menu bars
To change the language use: Edit>Preferences - Edit is the second command in from top left, then Preferences is the bottom selection in the drop-down list. Then you need the Interface tab, which is the third one in from the right. Language is selected from the only drop-down list in the dialogue box...

Re: HELP WITH HEADPHONE/MICROPHONE ISSUE!!!
However, if you have an external soundcard that supports this you can do it in windows - my Edirol UA-1EX supports h/w monitoring of the signal.stevethefiddle wrote:Hardware monitoring is not an available option in the Windows version of Audacity.

Re: Display more precise file properties, esp. for MP3
Secondly, the possiblity to display measurement time in in 1/10 sec. Usualy, hh:mm:ss is not sufficiently accurate and hh;mm:ss mmmm is acurate, but not easy to read. ;) Thanks. In Beta 1.3.x (and presumably then in the upcoming 1.4) the options for time/sample display are greatly increased and sho...

Re: Quality after converting from Vinyl
Is it worthwhile after converting vinyls to record CD Audio (wav) or Mp3 in terms of quality, considering the file size? Yes it most certainly is. Transcribing with good quality equipment turntable/pre-amp/soundcard into Audacity and editing the results to produce good clean sound and then exportin...

Re: changing the speed of a recording
I am needing to slow down a conversation recording so that it is at a typeable speed (i am a touch-typist at least). Jenny, you may want to ty the Beta version of Audacity - the latest release is actually pretty stable. It has a new feature which could be of good use to you for this application. Th...
Re: cd burn
vida, I would favour manually - Audacity is capble of finding "false gaps" and introducing more tracks than required. Also doing it manually gives you a chance to clean up the inter-track gaps: a) they may be noisy and you may want to Silece them with Edit>Silence (or CTRL+L) b) they may b...

Re: no sound from 1.2.6
Sound You will lose all sound if you set your USB Audio Codec to be the output - AFAIK your USB TT doesn't have any loudspeakers. What you need to do is to direct the sound output to your PC's soundcard Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio>Sound Playback - and make this setting to the PC so...

You can post it to the "Adding Features to Audacity" - but better would be to email the developers - you can get a link from the Audacity site.
Worth doing quickly as they are already working on 1.3.5 - which is due to transmute into 1.4 sometine soon I believe.
