Re: Click/pop removal - ClickRepair software

Hi ceaker, an interesting read - thanks for that link. I read the de-crackling section with great interest - however it does still have a step in the process (Step 4) which relies on click removal. What this approach looks to try to do is to avoid removing as much musical content from the signal - b...

Re: No Input Device Selection

Are you using a USB device as input?

If so you would expect it to be greyed-out as there is only a sigle path available (via the USB).

Re: click removal

shinnen, If you're happy with de-amplifying the clicks (and I do use this myself for larger "events"/faults on the vinyl - then should start to experiment with the Envelpe tool (the tool with the icon of two vertical triangles pointing towards each other with a white dot and a blue line be...

Re: Recording problems - First time user

WC hits the nail on the head when he says it’s the hard sell marketing of USB TTs to customers who, what can I say, haven’t thought the whole thing through, which lies behind all these “PLEASE HELP. I CANT RECORD MY LPs” threads. AND the reason I hit that nail right on the head - was exactly that I...

I’m showing my ignorance here, but are there really more laptops running Windows than desktops? (and for logical reasons, I am counting the flash ‘I’ve-got-a-desktop-and-a-laptop-too-for-use-on-the-train’ users as desktoppers).
Koz is clearly talking about California here ...........

Don't worry about it, Koz is just being curmudgeonly.

It's what he lists as his "occupation" in his Audacity profile .....

Any recommendations for compression quality settings?

I have overfilled my "old" 30gb iPod and plan to buy a new Classic 160gb - this will give me an opportunity to upgrade the quality level of sound files on the iPod - and I wondered what people's recommendations are for "best practice" in terms of quality settings. Up till now I h...

Re: When I import audio it only imports .7 seconds

You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC in 1.3. If this is the case you have two basic options: 1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports 2. play the file in an...

Re: click removal

john projects created in 1.2.x should be openable in 1.3.x (audacity will warn you, but normally the project will open ok). BUT once a project has been opened or created in 1.3.x it can NEVER be re-opened in 1.2.x I.e. the programmers have carefully given you forwards compatibility, but not backward...

Re: Recording problems - First time user

Koz, What am I missing with all this digitizing of black plastic? What’s the fascination with USB gadgets? What am I missing? Black plastic I agree with your point about using CD replacements - where these are available this is a much better route. But the problem is that in spite of the industry p...
